Phatboy if you had any balls I'd meet you at the AFA Boxing gym and have Coach Weichers put some gloves on us.
some people in govt want us to believe that it is in fact a sin tax
Those states do have roles to play. If not for the opportunities provided by the "have-not" parties in these lopsided states, the GOP already would have conceded the 2012 election. Romney would have gone nowhere in MA, had there been Kerrys, Kennedys, and/or O'Neills on *both* sides of the aisle instead of just one side. He wisely aligned himself with MA's empty-cupboard party and made it to the governor's office by acting exactly like a member of MA's full-cupboard party.
Granted, to pull a Romney you have to act exactly like the "other side" for a decade or so, before pulling a 180-degree switcheroo on most major issues once you go national. But that sort of thing has never bitten anyone in the ass in a presidential election, so I'm surprised it isn't done more.
As for MO'M having any shot at the White House... every state seems to think its own politicians could be in the running for President. It's adorable. Especially when Virginia does it, because it's clear that they SO truly believe.

I for one am shocked that a tax and spend politician is a failure.
It is. If you're not driving a Volt then ur a racist redneck tea bagger rich guy capitalist. lol.
but, but, but,... WIndfarms!!!
Wow. People making more than 100k , that's really targetting the rich! What a piece of shit
More than 300,000 Maryland residents will pay higher income taxes under a package given final approval by the legislature Wednesday.
The tax increase affects single-filers reporting income in excess of $100,000 and joint-filers reporting more than $150,000 in Maryland, the state with the nation’s highest per-capita income.
Democratic lawmakers closed ranks behind Gov. Martin O’Malley (D), who argued that his administration needed more money to continue record spending on education.

Pleased to meet you; hope you guess my name.
A Virginian in the White House? Unpossible!
This sounds like it comes from a completely unbiased source, so I totally buy it! My high ass taxes go toward my alma mater, and I'm okay with that.

or you could live in a place without punitive taxes and directly donate some (or all) of the difference to the university.
He's horrible, just horrible.
They had something about how if you fall in that topic bracket it could be $6,000 a year cheaper to live in Virginia. Problem with Maryland also is they didn't cut crap. This whole special session was because they wanted to spend hundreds of millions more and raise taxes to cover some of that.
Also, with the teacher pension shift local taxes going to keep going higher. It is pointless to try to live in Maryland
edit to add in part of why it is so much cheaper is if you earn over the 100k ind or 150k couple in Maryland you lose most exceptions and if over 200k you lose all of them

Yeah, given all those recent VA Presidents and all. It has only been what, 162 years since Zachary Taylor died in office? Practically yesterday.
Not that I'm the biggest O'Malley fan boy, but do you realize that the tax increase you're complaining about is 1/3 of 1% of the income for those qualifying?
If you knew that and are complaining based on principle then more power to you. If you're just using it to take a shot at O'Malley there are many other tangible things out there to use as ammo instead of this.
O'Malley is for the Purple Line going down campus drive? Yeah, I don't like him
1/3 of 1% here, 1/3 of 1% there, then all of a sudden you are talking about 3% tax increase which is a huge hit to people.

If you're trying to say that the youth today don't look up to and idolize Zachary Taylor, then you can Tippecanoe and kiss my ass.

It is definitely the principle. To raise taxes in this economy (and attempt to put in the gas tax, and pass the liquor tax, and up the tobacco tax, I could go on and on, and on, wind farm subsidy, flush tax, septic restrictions, etc etc). How out of touch can you be? Shame on him for even needing 2 special sessions with the super majority in both the MD house and senate. Swing your weight around a LITTLE and make the Mikes sort this shit out weeks ago. Embarrassing that he was too busy with his national aspirations, to look after his actual responsibilities.
The extra $300 or so a year in my taxes, suck, but no it is not going to "break" me. It just pisses me off. More tax and spend (and tax and spend) from MOM.
BTW, the so called "doomsday" budget they called the special session to avoid, still represented increased spending over last year. Hardly draconian.
This is all you need to say...i am getting married in July and we will soon be over this $150,000 threshold...and with buying a house in MD and starting a family, we CERTAINLY are not rich by any means and the fact i now have to pay MORE taxes once i get married makes me livid. I will do everything in my power to get my local reps (District 32) voted out the next election. This is where it has to start..at the local level. Everyone needs to do everything they can to have the annual incumbent democratic sheep followers in the state house and senate voted out next election. It is much easier to change the balance at the local levels then it is state-wide. Anne-Arundel, Howard and Baltimore Counties need to start sending many more Republic reps then they do now.
