OMG, I just asked Mr. Julester about this the other day. I see this quite a bit on the way home from a client site where I've been working. Is that what that means? Are they looking for a free ride or will they pay? (Regardless, I'm not picking them up. Just curious)
OMG he banged on Cappadonna's window!
Cappadonna, aka Cappucino, aka the Wu-Tang Clans most long-winded MC, famous for his extra-long verses, is now yet another Charm City hack driver between appearances on local club stages. City Paper wanted to give Cap the chance to set the record straight about how he went from recording for Sony to hacking in Bmore.
Wow, learn something new every day. Baltimore gets a mention in Wiki for this.
You are in the clear. UMTerp is being sanctimonious. You guys chased down the car, banged on the windows, told her to get the fuck out....and the guy driving peeled off......what the fuck were you supposed to do? Crackajack someone and hunt the Acura down in a hot box? Sounds reasonable!

I don't understand the problem. She talked to you and another friend so she's obviously not dead.
We call them jitneys
You are definitely responsible for some of this. Even though you weren't black out drunk, your drinking lead to several very bad decisions, to wit: 1) You went to the Block, LOL. 2) You took a cab to get there, not a bad decision, but indicative of the state you were in, and 3) You took along someone that already couldn't look out for themselves.
After that, things happened too quickly and you couldn't manage the situation. If you were sober, none of this would have happened, but to be fair, if she was sober it wouldn't have happened either.
it would only help id them after the fact if she turned up missing or said there was a crime committed. perhaps it could have been a deterrent to them if they saw it being taken.
We can all say what we'd do, but we're Monday morning quarterbacks with lots of time to think about it. I think I'd probably have done just what WB and his friends did, and felt the same way since. It sounds like it happened pretty fast, especially in alcohol time. And getting somebody out of a car when the occupants don't want her out is a tough task.
I'm kind of curious about who was in the Acura.
I hope she's okay. That's pretty damn scary.
Describe all of this in more detail - I think a lot of us are envisioning different things here.
How old was the guy in the car? What did he look like? Was it just one guy? How long did your conversation last? Did you talk to him, or just her? Etc.
My friend started running to the car and admittedly it took a second to register for me. He got there before me. He banged on the window and said Get the fuck out of the car. She said It's cool I got a ride and then they peeled off. From the moment she knocked on the window to getting in and them peeling off the first time i would say it was a max of twenty seconds. It seemed to go very quickly.
The guy in the car looked to be in his late 20's early 30's. He was the only one in the car. He was black. I don't remember if he said anything when we caught up to the car. I was pretty hammered.
When he rolled down the window, Willbo should have forgotten the friend and yelled at Cappadonna for that fucking embarrassing verse of his in "Triumph."
This. Basically you are kinda like joe Paterno lite. You didn't actually rape her but you could have done more to stop it. If you had called 911 that would have gotten you off the hook IMO.
I still don't see that would have accomplished. The police would probably take down her name and whatever information they had about the dude, and would say to follow up with them if they didn't hear from her in a few hours. She was drunk, but she wasn't passed out. She voluntarily walked over to this car, got in it, and then denied an opportunity to get out of it. I dont see where the police step in.
It may not have done anything but its the best he could have done. The fact that he was drunk too and not thinking clearly lowers the percentage of his blame.
what are the police to do when no crime was committed? a 29 year old adult made the choice to get in a car with another adult. when confronted with that choice she reaffirmed her decision to make that choice.
What?! That's an over the top thing to say. If he called the Baltimore PD and told them a drunk girl willingly left with a guy she just met, they would do less than nothing. What would you ideally have the police do if called there? It's debatable whether more could have been done but drunk or not, it's up to an adult to make decisions for who they choose to spend their time/go home with. I'm not getting this idea that date rape was 100% imminent here.
I got the shotgun. You got the briefcase. It's all in the game though, right?
Maybe I'm naive but I'd like to think if the police had his license plate they would go after him or at least try and pull over the vehicle. A drunk girl can not give consent.
Consent for what? Getting a ride?
The guy sped off when they tried to stop him. I'm sorry but that doesn't sound like the guy had good intentions. If he shares what happens with the police and they do nothing then some blame gets shifted to them.
I'm under the impression she is drunk and she is not able to make a good decision. The part about knocking on a random car door and asking for a ride was a big clue. This is not the same thing as a woman slugging at a metro pick up area.

lol it's nice that you would like to think that, but there is zero chance that happens. If you wanted the police to do anything you would have to lie and say she was taken against her will.
At that point, absolutely nothing illegal had occured.. Bad idea, but not illegal. She said "nah, its ok i got a ride". Unless you lie to the cops, they wont, and shouldnt, do anything until a crime is committed.
Someone on here must know someone in the Baltimore pd. I'd like to hear what they say would have happened if someone called 911 and described the situation.
You're really fucking naive. The BPD aren't going to drop whatever is going on at 2am on Saturday to go on a manhunt for some chick who asked for a ride. Saturday night in Baltimore the cops are taking a lot of calls. You'd have to lie and tell them she was taken against her will. Then you've fucked some Acura owner who clearly didn't commit the crime.
