This gets its own thread now, partially because I live on two streets away, and I'm over that way fairly often.
@PGPDNews Death Investigation:8700 blk 36th Avenue #CollegPark MD. PIO Cpl. McKinney enroute.Media can stage at 36th Ave and Mezterott Rd

From what I'm gathering from twitter, guy lights his basement on fire to get his roommates out of the house, shoots them both, kills one and injures the other, that shoots himself.
"Maryland football: Where everybody gets hurt and the starting left tackle has an existential crisis."
Article said suspect(s) were spotted in a tan Honda so the part about shooting himself doesn't make sense.
They are still reporting it as a murder suicide.
Old news, article hasn't been updated
37 min ago: @thedbk: PGPD is "aware" of campus alert seeking Honda Odyssey, but they are not seeking suspects and "there is no suspect vehicle"
Where is 36th Avenue in relation to the main entrance/Chapel part of the campus? Are those graduate houses?

Isn't that off of Metzerott, near University Blvd, on the backside of campus?
Attitude Reflects Leadership
This is literally right behind my house. Way too close to home. I'm glad I slept elsewhere last night. I still have a really bad feeling about this for some reason
Im really tired of getting crime emails about 3-4 times a week. Something must be done about this travesty.
Wow. This is NOT roomy!
PG Co Deputy Chief of Police was on the Junkies this morning.
Said it was murder suicide. Grad student living with two undergrads. Grad student started fire which got roommates out of house. Shot two roommates and then killed self.
One roommate dead. The other has non-life threatening injuries.
*Edited to change status of second roommate based on article linked below from examiner.

This is so fucked up
“Route 1, where everybody meets.” ~Nick Faust #5
Unrelated, but just over two years ago another student was murdered on 38th Avenue, two streets over.
Awful to hear this. Totally unnecessary waste of life.
story in the Examiner this morning said the College Park station was the second most dangerous Metro station behind Anacostia.
Most dangerous Metro stations in 2012*
1. Anacostia 119 cases
2. College Park 67 cases
3. L'Enfant Plaza 59 cases
4. Gallery Place-Chinatown 58 cases
5. West Hyattsville 53 cases
6. New Carrollton 52 cases
7. Rhode Island Avenue-Brentwood 52 cases
8. Largo Town Center 50 cases
9. Metro Center 48 cases
10. Minnesota Avenue 48 cases
* Based on number of "part 1" crimes, the most serious types of cases: assault, arson, burglary, homicide, larceny, auto theft, attempted auto theft, rape and robbery.
Examiner murder/suicide story as well
Wow. I was walking home (a block or two away) and heard the gunshots. This is really messed up and sad.
I live two houses down from that one. Partied in it a
few times too.
I'd be more interested in this list if it was normalized by ridership. Obviously the big downtown hubs are gonna have more incidents than most of the outer suburban stations.
Of course, that wouldn't help the College Park station's standing.
eamhokie94: Is your name Nazi in pig Latin?
If so, you live right across the street from my sister.
Guy who got shot in the butt ran across the street into my friends house. Got blood all over her floor and stuff. Crazy stuff.
im hearing pg plaza is the spot!
holy crap I lived on that street in college. I lived at 8706 36th Ave for a couple years. My car got keyed parked in the street and was also later stolen while parked in front of my house. GREAT STREET!!! Anyone know what the house number is or how old the suspects are? My car was stolen 10 years ago so if its older people I'd suspect them as being the ones who stole my car.
So when do we get names?
I believe they have to notify the families first. the PGPDJulie lady on twitter said that there would be another press conference later and they'd be given 90 minutes notice so I'm sure we'll get them at that time.
8703 36th. Last house on left.
Now oral knows where me, justerp, caseng and terpbe's sister all live
