Maybe Biden's recent stridency (yelling nonsense recently about his parents dreams) is venting his anger because he is being retired in favor of Hillary.
Several commentators -- including Matthew Berger of The Faster Times -- have concluded that Hillary Clinton has no plans to seek higher office. Everyone I
Doubtful. Barring disease etc. it's hard to imagine that happening.
Also, people say this every single time a President runs for reelection. When is the last time a VP actually got dumped during a reelection bid?
I don't remember, but I was sure hoping for W to dump Cheney!
Funny - I was hoping Cheney would dump Bush!
And you know, when Fred Bernstein of The Faster Times cites Matthew Berger of The Faster Times, that shit is about to go down. The Faster Times -- the paper of record.
Sounds right but Agnew was looking at criminal charges so no health or competency issues as far as I know. Law and order Nixon didn't choice.
Believe Agnew resigned during the second term
Yep. Hence Ford becoming President without ever being elected.
Correct, Agnew was Nixon's running mate in '72 and only resigned after the election. Nixon basically hated the guy but didn't want to risk southern conservatives' ire by dumping him. Agnew only got discovered for the crook he was after the election was over.
- Agnew '72
- Quayle '92
- Cheney '04
Forget it, Biden isn't going anywhere if those guys were allowed to stay on. He's a goof factory but has it all over those bums.
Looks like the most recent example is Nelson Rockefeller being dropped in '76 by Ford for BOB DOLE.
But Ford was never actually elected, so unique circumstances maybe.
Last super-legit one seems to be FDR's change-o-rama over his 4 elections. He swapped out VPs like crazy, Truman being the last to get the nod.
"And I try to har-mo-nize with songs the lonesome sparrow sings...
There are no kings inside the Gates of Eden."
McGovern initially selected Tom Eagleton as his VP running mate but dropped him after prior mental health issues emerged. Not all that applicable to this situation.

Ford is a great trivia question - only person to be VP and POTUS and wasn't elected to either.
I got your game changer.
Yeah, that means it was worse than my previous one, think about that!
