yawn...keep whipping out those cliches!
I'm sure Mr stalk down and kill the bad black kid was a real law abiding citizen.
...and before you think I'm some earthy hippy, I confess to owning a shotgun. I have no problem with the right to bear arms...it's the type of arms that are borne that I have a very real problem with. A handgun is the most useless piece of shit weapon for home defense.
So you are only against hand guns?
Its not really a cliche. Its true.
1. Do you think a crime like this wouldn't have happened if hand guns were illegal?
2. Do you think a 90 pound 80 year old woman could protect herself with a shotgun or rifle?
3. Do you think the removal of hand guns would lower the homicide rate in this country?
All serious questions.
1) I would argue that THIS particular crime would not have happened if handguns were illegal. But I can't speak for other crimes.
2) No I don't, but I don't that a whole lot of 90 pound 80 year old women could protect themselves with a handgun either. I don't hear a lot of stories of little old ladies stopping home invasions.
3) Outlawing of handguns, not a huge effect. The outright removal of them, yes I would say it would go down.

I think this is part of it. I went to a gun show in South Carolina about a month ago. This was my first ever gun show and i went to spend some quality time with my father in-law because he enjoys those sort of things. The thing that stood out most to me was the number of AR15's with suppressors being sold. Why in the hell would somebody need one of those things? I mean i know why some people would need them, but why would any law abiding citizen need one? The most common response i have gotten is that because it is awesome, and that is all. Nobody but me seemed to think that is overkill.
I under the people for gun rights. But this Zimmerman guy is a #1 first class loser. Wanna be security guard. He was out for blood, then on top of that on the 911 call you hear the young boy yelling out for help. THE BOY WAS WALKING AWAY.
HOW IS WALKING AWAY AND GETTING MURDERED SELF DEFENSE??
Ball so HArd, all the Bytches wana climb me.

Clearly he was worried that the kid was about to unleash the rainbow.
(In all seriousness, this guy is a POS and he better be tried for 2nd degree murder)

Incidents like this are not a proper way to frame the merits, or demerits of handgun ownership. There is very little chance a reasonable person would use deadly force in the circumstance as outlined above. Either, we are not getting the full story, or the shooter has a screw loose and freaked out, or took out misplaced anger. In any case, guns don't make people bad, people have the same propensity to bad shit with or without guns. How many of the 9-11 hijackers had a piece?
Not that I want to get involved in this, because I think that guy was a criminal ahole, but which do you think has killed more people in this country - AR15s, or Corvettes? Should Corvettes be banned? If not, why not?
Tough one. Which body style?
And the military and law enforcement.
Gun shop owners?
The purpose of the instrumentality is different. I am not in favor of outlawing guns but I'm not sure those comparisons are analogous.

you people do realize that battery on a police officer is a made up charge 99 times out of 100. especially if it was later dropped. you want to take away rights based on the word of cops, half of which are the most untruthful people out there? taking away constitutionally guaranteed rights based on convictions is a slippery slope, but at least you're relying on convictions, not accusations.

There's plenty more of that. Thank goodness for guns!!!
You just keep right on ignoring the facts by labeling them 'cliches'. Thank goodness your stupid insanity really doesn't matter.
And your last sentence is nothing short of retardation. A handgun is USELESS for home defense? LMAO!!!! More than one Baltimore City cop has recommended a handgun for home protection and I KNOW they're a lot more credible than you'll ever be about the issue.
How does this have to do with any type of gun debate? The only way it does is if you came into this looking for the result kind of like the author on the article linked went into it looking to play the race angle as he made clear.
HIDE behind the 2nd ammendment? That's rich.
Conversely, I met a person whose best friend had been murdered by a criminal with a gun in Balt city, and this guy was a total bleeding ass liberal and went on about how he hated guns, blah blah, so I told him that his friend would probably still be alive if he'd been able to defend himself with a gun. Shut him right up, seems he never even considered that fact, and I also offered him free marksmanship lessons.
Way to shut him right up! Nothing like using a person's time of sorrow as a time to make a political point!
BTW, the Feds will definitely get involved here, especially if the state/governor don't step up ASAP.
And I agree with those that say this case has little to do with gun control, although the right to bear arms does promote a cowboy culture in some ...
Now 99, there you go again. LOL.
It wasn't like it had just happened that day or anything. And the guy was hanging out in a nightclub (Cats Eye) w/band playing and people partying, after all. And actually, 99, it was HIM, not me, who was using his own friends death to make a political point, which I always found very distasteful, but since you were actually there I guess you knew exactly how and what was said, huh? LOL.
Anyways, I was completely and totally sincere, as I always am in gun self-defense matters, in that his friend could have indeed still been alive that very moment had he been able to defend himself adequately, and that's just an undeniable fact no matter what you or any other anti-2nd Ammendment nuts say about it.

Eric Holder: "We need to really BRAINWASH people against guns"
Seems kind of ludicrous to make a "standing your ground" defense when you actively pursued an unarmed individual.
This story has nothing to do with gun laws and everything to do with crappy police departments.
No offense, but you have no idea about my position on gun control...
