Has anyone on the Internet edited the sonic boom videos with Guile from Street Fighter?
They should do that.
"And I try to har-mo-nize with songs the lonesome sparrow sings...
There are no kings inside the Gates of Eden."
How about hitting it from in front. And yes I know all shattering it would do is create thousands of smaller asteroids - that might burn up in the atmosphere before impact, or might not.
Beats taking a big one right in the balls...
Can't we set up a system of nets or trampolines in space to catch these things?
Meteor just came through above Sacramento and the bay area in Cali.
Driving Southbound 280 in San Francisco Bay Area and we see a bright blue shooting star fly across towards the Peninsula. Looked amazing in person! Thought it was a meteor like Russia for a second.
Who saw it?
It was God's fart folks.

Read a book, yo.
Meteor bigger than previously thought.
Its clearly a Russian super weapon.
Just how bright PANSTARRS will get is unknown at this point, but it has been spotted from Buenos Aires from well within the city limits. Photographer Jim Gafford snapped this in Western Australia, to give you a sense of how bright it already is, with several days left before closest approach to the sun:
Comet Pan-STARRS will be visible with the naked eye to people in the Northern Hemisphere starting on Thursday.

Good article. It might be worth it to start a comet thread, especially if the one in November pans out.
This is a great compilation of the videos people shot
Watch Meteor Strike on PBS. See more from NOVA. It was an event that took the world by surprise: On the morning of February 15, 2013 a 7,000-ton asteroid crashed into the Earth’s atmosphere. According to NASA, the Siberian meteor
