Anyone have a Garmin S3?
My wife says I can buy myself an extra "Christmas present" since I spent more on her than she did on me.

That's a mighty fine women you got yer self. Don't know about the garmin but I've had $800 worth of devices that other people are benefiting from. If you get one keep an eye on it, they can walk.
Yessir she is! After 31 years of marriage we still actually like each other!
I figured a device that was strapped around my wrist would be less likely to be "lost" than one that sits in the cup holder on the golf cart (besides...where would I put my beer can?)
Has anyone used a Smash Bag or a Gold Flex from Sklz? I got both of those for Christmas (fiance's family probably just looked for golf aids, no argument from me though!), but I was wondering if, aside from the videos on the Sklz website, anyone has any specific tips on how to use them to improve any particular aspects of my game. They got me the 40" Gold Flex, though I think I need the full length one, but if anyone thinks it doesn't matter, let me know!
Bump for bump's sake
Eddie, I don't remember ever asking, but how was your round at Boston GC? I saw it was in Golf Digest's Top 100 courses this year.
Not sure what to think of Dustin's prospects this year now that he's banging Gretzky's daughter. Could go straight in the toilet
This will probably help him keep his mind on his game, w/out checking out the gallery at every hole, to search for similar prospects for the evening's entertainment. Plus it ups his stock w/the gallery women, whenever she takes off for her next adventure.
We had 32 guys show up yesterday for our weekend gambling extravaganza, biggest turnout in several years and the winner was yours truly! Made enough to make up for my miserable performances of 2012.
yesterday was a perfect day for golf. i shot 1 over at waverly woods. birdied 3,4,18. bogeyed 8,12,13,16. best round in a long while.
I got a new putter for Christmas and played with it for the first time yesterday. The head weighs a good bit more than my previous putter, and I'm clearly not used to it yet. I felt like my stroke was great, but couldn't control my speed at all. Definitely need some work with it, but I'm optimistic for 2013.
what putter are you gaming? I just got a new one too and im loving it on my putting matt so far
I got a Taylor Made White Smoke putter. I had been using a similar Odyssey putter, but it had a lighter head. I had bought it off eBay forever ago, and it had a metal insert that I wasn't in love with, and it came with a chip on the bottom of the face that didn't affect a perfect stroke but did affect it pretty severely if I pulled up at all, which was prone to happen occasionally on long putts.
I just need to get out with it and practice getting my distance down.
I have a confession: I have been doing some yoga stuff I found on youtube and it has made a huuuge difference. Every since my back pronlems cropped up (a bit over a year ago) ive stretched daily. When I started I couldnt get my hands down to ankle height. Now I can make a fist and put the knuckles on the ground. I feel really really self conscience doing it (even though im in my house, alone, with no one watching) but the results are undeniable. I do it at night and wake up in much less tight. In addition i havent been to the chiropractor in several months(which still would help a bit but I dontnlike spending the $).
Yoga is great. No reason to be self conscious. It's a legit workout and makes perfect sense for golfers.
Im ready for aa 5th of vodica to end my feels.
The P90X yoga will kick any Tommy Toughguy's ass. I think we've moved past the time when only metros, gheyz, and wimmenz do yoga.
I've been considering doing some regular yoga for golf purposes as well. I'm more flexible than a lot of guys, but it would definitely help my all-around flexibility and fitness.
i'm really not looking for a workout (and what I do isn't one). I'm looking for flexibility*. here are the two videos i use most
*aside from golf and vanity, the reason I exercise is to be OK 30 years from now. for me that means keeping weight off, getting more flexible, and increasing upper body strength to prevent injury
nice! one of my buddies loves the white smoke, he rolls them in w/ it
I've liked it so far, other than the whole speed issue. I made a couple of medium length putts last time out, and burned the edge on a couple of others. Now if I could just get them to stop within 5 feet of the hole...
In the steam room this morning were 2 younger guys who had just come from downtown Bethesda were they had taken hot yoga for the 1st time this morning at 6am. That's a 20 minute drive from bethesda to our club. These guys take P90X yoga at our club in the morning and are both in good shape. They were exhausted and said they sweated their asses off for 1 1/2 hrs and dared the rest of us to try it.
Afterwards i was at the sinks and one guy weighed himself and said he was 3 lbs lighter than yesterday morning (he looked like he weighs about 170). The other guy got on the scale and said he lost 7lbs from yesterday, 190 to 183!
I've been thinking of doing yoga for two years (even purchased a four pack on Groupon for about $30 which never got used.) Post the links you've been using. I'd bet half the pros either do yoga or pilates.
EDIT - Had typed this out yesterday but never posted. Noticed you posted the links.

That kind of quick weight loss is anything but good. I imagine they are dehydrated. Or took a massive dump and haven't eaten since.
Nick "the prick" Falso has just teamed up with the guy who cuson fit me for my putter and sand wedge, which are the best things I've ever bought for golf, and believe me, I've bought alot!
So I made my first payment for a golf membership this year. Im excited and determined to get more than my money's worth. Free range practice helps too.
We've all been here before.
My best friend and I went to Miami, for about 10 days after I got separated from my wife back in 1983. We stayed at Doral during the week that the tournament was there. Could eat at the same table as the players, being inside the grounds.
On Monday, after the tournament was over, we tee it up on the Blue Monster. It's not that much of a monster now w/improvements in clubheads, shafts and balls w/reduced drag/spin.
At any rate we pair up w/another twosome who want to play the normal white tees. Back then I was 33 and could hit it pretty well, so we wanted the challenge. Getting to the point, my friend tees one up and hits it 45 degrees to the right, into the stands about 30 yds away, where the workers are disassembling them. We yell a quick "fore" and apologize to the workers immediately.
The other twosome thought we would be a bad match up for them and made an excuse to go back to the clubhouse (men's room). I convinced my friend to play from the whites and the two of us played by ourselves, w/out the initial group assigned to us. We waited to the second hole to go back to the blues, where we found ourselves over matched and ultimately went back to the whites after about 4 holes of facing very long second shots into greens.
