I live about 5 blocks north of Cross St and am too lazy to walk to the bars on Fort and too cheap to take a cab when it's so close but I hate most of the bars on Cross. It is my eternal struggle.
My roommate said a falafel place just opened on Light St where Beach Bums used to be. Hopefully it's good. For non-pizza delivery options I really like Himalayan House (Indian, closed on Sundays) and Cross St Kebob. Really hoping this "brooklyn-style" pizza place comes through with the goods. The pizza here is beyond terrible.
I didn't know Homeslyce delivered. I guess I have to check that out.
My first place when I moved to SoBo was around the corner from Idle Hour. I didn't care for it at first, but a few of my friends always wanted to start/end the night there, the chartreuse grew on me
Regis is great and so is Metropolitan for lunch or dinner
DaveJuice and I definitely hit up Idle Hour for a bit post-Fed Hill Stroll. The bartender cured my hiccups, for which I am eternally grateful.
Well for at least a couple hours. I got them again at Brewers Cask. Then that chick cured them too with a different remedy.
"Maryland football: Where everybody gets hurt and the starting left tackle has an existential crisis."
an egyptian guy i work with says they have excellent schwarma
Pic Sigs are for losers.
holy crap beach bums closed!? they had great sandwiches
Oh, and if you liked Social's...welp, too bad. The guy who owns Armadillo's in Annapolis is buying it and rebranding.
I heard their pizza was legit too
Stalking horse is great. Don't hate.
I tried a chicken kabob from Baba's Mediterranean Kitchen on Fort Ave the other day. Decent chicken and pita, side salad and comes with a decent amount of some pretty damn good hummus. Agree on both Himalayan House being pretty good, legit ass Indian/Nepalese food and about the most of the Cross St bars epitomizing the word shitshow on weekends.

I got the shotgun. You got the briefcase. It's all in the game though, right?
I am a fan of Ryleigh's Oysters.
Yeah their pizza is/was good. That sucks. I really like(d) Social's.
Also I finally got to meet 286 when I was at Mother's last year but I was completely wasted and then I'm pretty sure he vanished into thin air. Nothing like being hammered and having someone come up to you and say "Hey slatter" at Mother's.
When I lived in Otterbein, Thai Arroy had just opened and it was AMAZING. It got reviewed by the Baltimore Sun and the line became out the door and prices went up. That being said, hit them up for takeout. They are at the corner of Light and Cross.
It's still amazing: $8-10 lunch special, $10-12 at night with BYOB
If you like Ryleigh's...I had a conversation with the owner the other day at a neighborhood association meeting. There's 3 shitty houses in a row on Cross St (12,14 and 16 I think). He owns these, and if all goes well with the city, those will get converted into a restaurant front with an outdoor German Beer garden in the back.
Charm City Wings and Waffles
Everyone needs to go to Light Street Cafe.
I feel so bad every time I walk by and there's the poor guy in there not doing much. I love little small-owner places like that and it actually has pretty good food.
I just embarrassed myself with this post
Been to Hersch's Pizza twice, down at Light and Wells (near 95). The first time it was fantastic. The second time it was kinda meh. Worth a third try sometime though. I doubt they deliver.
I haven't been to Don't Know in several years but I knew it as a UNC bar.
Where's the bar they went to all the time in Season Two of the Wire?
I get a bacon egg and cheese sandwich about once a week. I too worry about the lack of bodies in there. His biscuits are legit.
Noted: JDawg and I will try it out sometime.
For another legit breakfast option, Garden Restaurant on Light and Fort. I know it looks awful, but it's cheap and pretty decent breakfast (5 of us got away for $33, and everyone got a coffee and eggs/meat/homefries/toast).
Ropewalk, I believe. Good wings and good happy hour specials.
They go to Ropewalk once, but I think he is referring to Clement St Cafe which was on the corner of Clement and Covington but has since been converted into townhouses or something
That funny - he briefed the Baltimore Spurs group on the same thing. There is a part II to that but we are sworn to secrecy.
I am at Ropewalk 2-3x a week. The place can get kind of fratty on the weekends but I still like it because I know most of the bartenders real well. I also go a lot on Tuesdays for 35 cent wings (the wings are great IMO) and Thursdays for trivia.
Love the place during the week and like it on the weekend.
Yep. The stevedores went to a bar behind Hilltop which was converted into a row home.
