Great idea, but what kind of Stevie Wonders were you playing with? If I KNOW you're trying to steal the money from the bank, there's about a 0.0% chance you could go a full game turn without getting caught after having stolen the entire stack of 500s.
The wheelbarrow, but only because I need it to carry the fat stacks ya'll be giving me after landing on my orange hotels.

Terrible game. Yahtzee crushes it. Pictionary, Apples to Apples, and scrabble are much better.
BTW, I see they're selling "Words With Friends" now in board game form. If you buy this you are what is wrong with the world.

Backgammon is still the greatest board game in history.
backgammon is def legit
Risk is ridiculously fun if you have at least five competitive people and a decent amount of booze. Breaking non-aggression pacts ftw.
Ass to mouth?
OH SHIT! WHAT NOW RAISE! YOU FUCKED UP!
FRIDAY LOSER LANDGRAB?
oh and diplomacy is easily one of the best boardgames but no one wants to play.
Apples to Apples is a top 5 worst game ever created...Scattergories crushes it as a party game and actually requires skill

Also the best board game is obviously chess
There are house rules available on the internet that mitigate a lot of the problems that have been mentioned in this thread.
I posit that a person cannot have much more fun than getting 6 guys together, with booze, to play Monolopy with a balanced rule set and real money.
The real money just adds such a different edge to the game.
Of course, divide (or multiply) the in-game amounts by an appropriate factor (100, 10, 5, etc.).
I think the worst part about Monopoly is the level of luck...if anyone gets the oranges or light blues its game over. Also a properly played game of Monopoly shouldn't last more than an hour.
I still think Settlers of Catan is the best board game ever. It has extraordinary balance, perfect game time (about an hour), attractive looking pieces and unbelievable replay-ability due to the board changing each game. When rating a game's luck factor, I like to use the "zero to chess" scale where zero is complete luck/randomness and chess is a 10 (no luck or outside factors whatsoever). I put Settlers at about a 7 which is my ideal number for a game.
My biggest qualm with Settlers is that the quality of the pieces suuuuck. We ended up making our own pieces to get around this. I also wish that there was a bit more attacking in the game but I'm OK without that.
Chardee Macdennis: The Game of Games
My friends and I were political junkies even then. I got them sidetracked positing some bs (kinda like our political threads) and snatched the bills while they were getting all bent about things. It actually went over two complete turn cycles before they noticed...
Subterfuge is a wonderful thing. I won a capture the flag game in boy scouts because I switched sides during a chaotic moment and being a fairly nondescript and relatively unatheletic individual i.e. not worthy of attention I was able to get near the flag, pick it up and walk down the middle of the field to within two steps of the border before anyone noticed. I was laughing my ass off as I crossed over; so were the scoutmasters who saw the whole thing and ragged on the other guys for a couple of weeks for their inattentiveness.
how do you switch sides in capture the flag?
Cards Against Humanity, nub. Apples to Apples is boring as shit after trying that out.

"It's just so hard," Greivis said. "It's my heart, my love. Maryland made me who I am."
I used to play Settlers, I haven't played it in years. Wasn't there an online place to play it similar to landgrab for risk?
and feesh, you mean Cards Against Humanity? That shit is aces.
Also Ticket to Ride fools.
Err, yeah, that. Kids with Ass Cancer, FTMFW
What is this Diplomacy? Never heard of it.
Victoria Concordia Crescit
Yes, yes, yes, yes, and yes.
"You have to go inside the kennel and eat a cake."
"That doesn't seem so bad."
"No, not a cake. The ingredients to a cake."
Cross over to the other side, play defense for a bit, wandering over the field so everyone gets comfortable with me. Then drift back to the flag and wait for my opportunity. Yeah, it was that simple. Hogie-esque in its simplicity.
Under the radar game if you have a group of people that are even the slightest bit creative/imaginative -- Balderdash. With the right people it's easily the funnest game. Growing up we were constantly playing Balderdash, Pictionary and Backgammon.
Im ready for aa 5th of vodica to end my feels.
