Sorry to hear that - you have a great outlook.
Ugh. Hate seeing stuff like this. I don't even know what to say.... that just... sucks.
Think I read that you live in Purcellville, right? I'm right down the street. If you wanna turn Coaches Corner or that White Palace shithole into a Terps bar one weekend, I'll buy.. I need more Maryland people around here. Either way, best of luck to you and your family.

This. May god bless you and your family. If your travels take you to Florida and you need any of these things or anything else at all I'm your guy.
Wow, so sorry, stay strong!
Shit luck, man. Really puts things in perspective. Stay strong and keep that positive attitude. Positive mental attitude in these things goes a long way. If not just for you, for your family. Keep posting / updating. This community always has good suggestions/ideas once you get around the easy jokes.
Im ready for aa 5th of vodica to end my feels.
Jesus, that's terrible. Best of luck with the treatment and I hope you get many more qualitiy years to spend with your family. Good luck.
My friend's dad was a big, strong guy (I think he played for the Redskins a long time ago for at least a brief period) but I only knew him while he had ALS. His son and I started playing baseball together when we were 8 I think and I only knew him with the disease, but he could still do a lot for his children into his later years. Looking back I really have no idea how old he was since everybody seems ancient when you're ten and he didn't come around as much when his time started to come. He was expected to live like six or eight years less than he did, so keep on fighting. I don't know anything about the medical side but it sounds like you've got the right mindset. Just keep on living, not much else you can do.

Sorry to hear about your dx. Hopefully, it turns out like Stephan Hawkins.
Thoughts and prayers,
So sorry to hear this. Stay strong. Miracles happen every day.
I had a friend that had the "fast" version. His family has been doing great things in the area for several years. Maybe this link will lead you to some resources:
Wishing you all the best.
man I am so sorry
Shit dude, I'm terribly sorry to hear that. Pretty sure I've met you at one of Pam's poker games and you were a good dude, even though you were wearing a cowboys jersey iirc. Attitude is key, stay strong and enjoy every day, who knows what may happen with the medicine in the next 5-10 years.
Very sorry to hear this. Like others have said try to keep a positive attitude and make the most of your time. Hopefully modern advances in medicine will develop a cure. Stay strong and don't give up.
Thanks everyone for the support. I just needed a forum to vent and state my feelings, feels good to do that. I haven't even told my close circle of friends yet, only family, work and Terps board!
Yes, I was at Pooh's poker tourney, but I was wearing a champ bailey jersey :) I got to the finals and I don't know how, but lost to HitmanTerp, but I did knock out UMTerp, and I still relish that LOL
Yes, I do live out in Purcellville now, and we do need a terp bar out this way, too many VT fans out here!
I think I will be trying to attend the Clemson game, so if any of you are around, would love to say hi!
Sorry to hear this but Thanks for sharing, its really inspiring. all the best to you fellow terp!
I wish you joy and strength.
Very sorry to hear, MaskedSuperstar. IIRC, you went to Wootton HS like me, maybe a year ahead of me. best of luck, and stay positive.
Really sorry to hear this.
Greatly admire your attitude, outlook, and manner.
There is some great advice on this thread, and it makes me proud to be part of board.
So sorry hear this. Stay strong!
Don't know how and what to say, other than, "Hang in there and as Jimmy V said (actually I wasn't too much of a Jimmy V fan - till he said that!) - Don't give Up, Don't ever Give Up!
Your health and your family, faith, self-respect, is "The Biggest Ballgame" in the game of life.
God bless you and your family! Give it the “old Terp college try!” -- it is possible that you could see great treatment improvements in the next couple of years. Hang in there and keep try and do the best you can.

Hey You Suck -- See my post below, actually might might be be above after all the posts--whatever!
Man that sucks. And what a terribly misleading number of upvotes next to the thread title. When I saw that I was hoping there was good news inside. Good luck man.
Terribly sorry to hear that -- I can only echo the best wishes of everyone here. And what UMTerp said.
Good luck and stay positive.
I don't words can capture I sorry I feel for you and your family right now. Love as much as you can and hope for the best.
I'm reading more about ALS now because I'm not too familiar with it...sort of mind-blowing that in this day and age, they still don't know the cause of it in most cases. I think I'll make a donation to help fight this disease.
I've treated some ALS patients who did this, and I think it did a great deal of good for both the patients and their families.
Yes, I plan on doing that at some point. I have limb onset, not bulbar, so at this point my speech and breathing are fine. 99% FVC, you will probably understand what that means...
As my symptoms began over a year ago, only my right arm and shoulder really showing outwards issues at this point, and with ALS progression being linear, hoping at minimum got a good 3+ years
Well, enough of the downer stuff, I will be participating in the ALS walk later this year, so i will be hounding board for donations then :)
