I haven't seen any mud-dragging of any of the Obama family on a personal level. And I listen to the awful talk radio and FAUX news.
I'm speaking to their "do as I say not as I do" mentality, has nothing to do with their politics.
This thread is 3 pages of Paul and Neal agreeing on substantive deficit reduction policies, and 233 pages of spam. Someone's gotta keep it entertaining.
One, I don't care which party thinks the other is to blame. As president, it's his job to facilitate all parties in working together. I would respect him a lot more if he made more if an effort to unite the parties and started negotiations and discussions on the sequester weeks in advance. Instead, it's relegated to a quick afternoon sesh in his office the day before, then when it's over he holds a big media sesh to blame everyone else, lol....and that's our leader.
Second, after the sequester hits I would have gained a little respect if he had come out and said something like, I know Americans are going to suffer, yada, yada, yada. And bc of that, here's what my family and I are going to personally cut back on....then list some things.
I've never seen a president make more of an effort to be a celebrity in my life.
Without getting into the merits or lack thereof of this argument, I think the basic argument by some is slightly different than what you have stated. First, WRT Obama's children, I believe the argument by some is that they have now taken four vacations in three/four months (i.e., Hawaii in January, Aspen in February, the Bahamas and Vail in March), which all require taxpayer $$$ for secret service, etc. At the same time, the WH is canceling WH tours because of the sequester and secret service cuts and Obama is telling everyone that they need to make sacrifices because of our financial condition. The argument is whether or not these vacations (i.e., spending of tax payer $$ on secret service) sends the right signal to the public. Again, I'm not arguing about the merits of the argument, just providing a little more context to the argument that is being made.
Jesus Christ, and I thought 'welfare queens' were taking us for a ride...they're pikers compared to the First Grifter and family.
How about saving money in both areas? It's not as though we're in danger of saving too much money...
Because "rich girls'" parents pay for that stuff out of their own pockets, unlike the welfare tenants in the WH?
Obama has been a disaster as president so far but I would not say he 'seeks' celebrity more than Clinton. Dude lived it and loved it.
Obama sticks himself in front of the public far more than even Clinton. Public appearances (without confrontation) coming out of the wazoo.
More of a celebrity than the conservative President who was ACTUALLY a celebrity before taking office?
Internet high five to that.
"And I try to har-mo-nize with songs the lonesome sparrow sings...
There are no kings inside the Gates of Eden."
The presidents pay for their own vacations and other travel outside of official travel related to the office. They do not pay for Secret Service, AF1 and other protective measures.
Unfortunately, the Obamas nor anyone else can tell AF1 they're flying commercial, or the Secret Service to take the weekend off.
But could they not take monthly high cost vacations? Do you know of anyone else in senior management in business or government who takes monthly vacations? Could they repay the actual costs of flying in AF1 instead of the nominal cost, which is pennies on the dollar? Could they only take 1 plane instead of going to 2 different places, doubling the already gargantuan costs?

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but didn't the Pubs give 'some revenues' in the bargain on 12/31/12? Thus, aren't the Pubs 'owed' some entitlement reform, per your understanding of Obama's position? Or did those just not count?
"It's just so hard," Greivis said. "It's my heart, my love. Maryland made me who I am."
If you never bitched about Bush taking monthly visits to his Ranch in Texas, then you can't bitch about this now.
And this completely worthless argument distills every single thing that is wrong with the political process in the country.
Damn. I guess brutal sequester cuts forced a furlough of the vaunted Potus jumper. #notarealballer
Andrew Johnson writes on NRO: President Obama must have caught whatever caused Marquette to go cold against Syracuse when he attend the Elite Eight game over the weekend. In front of a crowd of kids, NBA players, and White House reporters, he went a dismal two for 22 on the basketball court this morning at . . .
That was last year though, doesn't count
Clearly watched a lot of Terps games this year.
Because staying at his own house (for free) in the sticks of Crawford TX is the same as staying at an $8 million dollar estate in Hawaii, or skiing out west, or golfing in Miami with Tiger Woods, or vacationing in Spain. Must I go on with the Obama Vacation List O' Shame?
Which of these things is not like the others?
And may I mention how much libs and Dems were complaining about Bush, but are silent now?
Do the trillions in spending cuts over the last 3 tears not count either?
I think a major difference between Bush and Obama is the fact that words like "sequestration" were not in our vocabulary when Bush was in the WH. Taking AF1 to Hawaii when the debt rises by 1 billion dollars per DAY makes me furious....it should make all of us furious.
Wait...that's not how bargaining works. When you say I'll give X for Y and someone gives Y, you give X. You don't say oh well I've been giving you X before so it counts now. That just doens't work, and is rather disingenius to the cause of bipartisan. [The I got mine's now so F U]
What happened to that whole campaign slogan about : Change? He's supposed to be different, not exactly the same right?
I think I mentioned this a few weeks ago, but I really hate the whole slamming O for vacations, golf, etc. I suppose its bad optics when others are being furloughed, but cmon.
Its not like he stops being President when he goes somewhere.
There are dozens of real, actual reasons to slam Obama, but this really isnt one of them for me.
