Don't even smoke anymore, but let's do this!
Seriously, it's absurd that weed is illegal while alcohol is legal.
Much earlier than i thought this would appear. Inevitable. Pass it (to the left).
Im ready for aa 5th of vodica to end my feels.

"And I try to har-mo-nize with songs the lonesome sparrow sings...
There are no kings inside the Gates of Eden."
This. Plus how much tax revenue could it raise? I'd love to see if it could help reduce crime in Baltimore.
Criminals will just push whatever else is illegal that they can get their hands on.
I'm thinking the chances of passage are slim. MD is not a western state and has very tight geographical, economical and political ties to DC/Fed Govt.
But the fact that MD would put up the proposal definitely sends a stronger message back the other way.

As noted, makes no sense for weed (far safer) to be illegal with alcohol being legal. Easily implementable source of revenue for government. Makes no sense not to. I'd guess that most drug trade violence in American cities is heroin/cocaine related. I believe that most violence in connection with marijuana is Mexican cartel stuff. It will at also keep innocent people out of jail and save public money there, too. I wonder if one will be able to legally grow a few plants like the six plant limit Colorado is instituting. Also, how cool will it be to go to the weed store and pick out from a multitude of top notch choices?

I got the shotgun. You got the briefcase. It's all in the game though, right?
This isn't one of those lame "medical marijuana" bills but full legalization. It will be interesting to follow the debate and to see if the demographics have finally tipped to actually pass this. I'm all for it on many levels. Like booze, it is used and should be taxed, and law enforcement can be concentrated on more serious drugs if the weed trade is split from all of that.
I didn't mean to sound sarcastic. I am just anxious to see the propagation of scientific research, peer-reviewed at that, to investigate the actual benefits of cannabidiol.
Maybe for once Maryland can be early to the party and reap the financial benefits, instead of farting around while everyone else sin taxes the hell out of people (gambling).
This for me.
I think the chances of passage are near nil, but sure- get the conversation going.
I know some are saying it has no chance of passing, but can anyone here make an argument for keeping it illegal?
it's a normative question on some level, so, yes, there are arguments that can be made. They are not particularly convincing
Nearly half of this state voted against gay marriage and table games, so there's a lot more Middle America around that you may think.
The arguments for keeping it illegal tend to sound pretty similar conceptually to the arguments that allowing gay marriage will lead to humans marrying goats.
We really need to let Frederick County and everything west of there go to WV where they belong.
