The federal court jury in the patent infringement lawsuit between Apple and Samsung has presented its verdict after deliberating for just for 21
I wonder if Apple will do a one time cash dividend? They are already sitting on $8b in cash and $52b in current assets.
Samsung made 6 billion last earnings quarter, two weeks of profit isn't that big deal in the grand scheme. If Apple is able to get an injunction against Samsung from selling the infringed products, that could obv be a big deal but that will prob not happen.
They've already declared a $2.95 dividend that hasn't been paid yet.
Interesting that the S Korea court found them both guilty and is restricting sales of IPhones, IPads, and Galaxies.
That Samsung internal memo re the iphone sealed their fate.
Does Apple actually have a patent on small ass phones that only women and men with women hands can use?
How can 7 men and 2 women make such a bad decision. What an awful jury.
Samsung as a company in Korea has built a brand doing what they did in the case. They steal ideas to start to build a brand and then start innovating off that.
They did that here. Most of these phones were the older Samsung android phones. They all had Touchwhiz skinned on them. Touchwhiz was an exact clone down to the icons of the iPhone. Now they are doing a better job with the S3 etc, but there were e-mails etc brought up during this trial that showed what they were doing.
For all the media bitching about Apple since they are doing well enough, I am sure they know that if you don't fight for your patents you lose them. So if Apple just let this go and another company stole the patents Apple could never go after them.
Patents are very expensive and burdensome to get. If I had one I'd fight tooth and nail to keep it.
Another crazy measure of what $1B is to Apple. They generate $1-3B in free cash flow per month.
Didn't Jobs say in his own autobiography something to the effect that good artists steal? Kinda hypocritical no? Good thing Apple didn't invent the car is all I say.
What happen if South Korea's Samsung says F-it, we are not paying?
Android is already paying a decent amount per handset to Microsoft for patents, so they will end up doing the same here.
Car companies pay other companies for licensing everyday since the car was invented, so what is your point?
Samsung of America would not be able to sell their phones, and I am pretty sure the international courts would get involved as well. The money is nothing, and not important in this case anyway.
Pretty unbelievable this was tried in silicon valley. Also good to know apple employees will vigorously defend patents but do nothing when they hear the screams of a lady getting carved to pieces.

Maybe for things like the intermittent wiper or such. Apple would have patented the steering wheel and brakes and we'd be all screwed.
Mark Cuban's tweets on this were awesome.
Share, I'm too lazy to look for them.
Obviously APPL didnt invent Patent Infringement Suits, but they are certainly doing what APPL does and trying to perfect it
If the IBM PC was created in this patent environment there would be no Apple. They would have sued them out of existence.
Dear Apple, Xerox PARC called, they want their interface back..
Thx Apple, it's now mandatory for big tech companies to sue each other. Prices go up while competition and innovation suffer
Haha Cuban can be an ass sometimes, but he's spot on.
9to5 posted Tim Cook's personal memo to his employees.
Lol @ the RDF in Apple HQ if they think they're the moral authority because of this verdict.

My best friend's law firm is repping samsung in this case, and they pretty much expected to lose. This is pretty much a slap on the wrist considering how much money they've made off the design and more importantly the tech.
I felt like I should have issued an amber alert for myself, just in case
Those of you who know where I work might recognize my firm's name in some of the press on this matter. My firm worked very hard on this and came out on the winning side. While it would have been fun to work on, I'm glad I didn't work on it because I don't particularly enjoy working 12 hour days. Pretty cool to be a part of the "patent trial of the century" though.
Many of Pitt's 58 "rushing attempts" were the result qb Tino Sunseri fleeing the pocket like a man whose clothes were on fire.
LOL @ 12 hour days during trial.

Cuban is 100% right. Apple stole all their shit from Xerox and IBM, then started suing anyone who did it to them(most notably Microsoft). I mean you can say that's good business practice, but moral high ground? They don't have a leg to stand on.
Yeah, these gay ass smart phones are unusable If you have just average sized hands. Hate them with a passion
