I really hated the "nothing before the missile was actually a target" nature of season 4. At least in the other seasons, when another plot comes up, it's a backup plan, or a separate plot altogether. In season 4, it's like "Oh, Jack saved Heller, well, it's ok, they didn't want Heller anyways"
The season 4 ending was amazing.
According to this link, he got one when he left CTU for the last time. Two silent clocks for one person would probably be a bit much.
A silent clock was a rare occurrence on 24 that featured a clock with no beeping at the end of a...
eamhokie94: Is your name Nazi in pig Latin?
The S4 and S5 endings were the best outside of S1. The awesome S5 ending is why botching S6 so badly pissed me off. So many better ways to do a season after Jack gets captured by the Chinese.
Like, oh, I don't know, HAVING JACK MOTHEREFFING BAUER ESCAPING A CHINESE PRISON?
I was almost in tears for the Edgar silent clock.
Season 8 was pretty awesome with Jack just butchering everyone in his way. That Novakovich kill scene was one of the greatest things in TV history. Not showing the actual killings was genius on the director's part.
The only real disappointing thing about season 8 (other than the whole mess with Dana Walsh and her ex-bf or whatever) was that Jack was completely uninvolved in the last hour or so. I don't have any ideas for exactly what they could have done there, but the series should have ended with a kill-count record in that last hour.
I was in our fraternity house, and it was like a morgue after that episode. Everyone was in shock.
"It's just so hard," Greivis said. "It's my heart, my love. Maryland made me who I am."
We'll always have those few episodes where Jack kidnapped Logan and slaughtered the Russians. Truly a HOF board moment. I think there were 500 OMGWTFOMGOMG posts when they showed the preview of Jack wearing the helmet and coming for Logan.
OH MY GOD JACK IS GODDAMN IRONMAN
...was the general consensus.
"And I try to har-mo-nize with songs the lonesome sparrow sings...
There are no kings inside the Gates of Eden."
Season 6 was really really disappointing because the first few hours were setting up so good. I mean, they detonated a fucking nuke in LA. It's just that the last 20 hours were so god-awful.
And the get into elevator, commercial break, cut back in with a camera spanning an entire room of 8 dead Russians, including one with a fire-poker sticking out of his chest.
IT'S IT'S IT'S.....IT'S JACK BAUUUER!!!!!!
I started watching shortly after Thanksgiving after never watching an episode before. Damn this is entertaining TV.
I'm currently on Season 4. I had to rewatch 12:00pm because the opening was just so badass. Bauer slides down a hill to get into the complex for no reason other than to look cool as hell, then he delivers the biggest dose of self-pwnage ever, and then he brings a knife to a gun fight AND wins.
I also love Jack's Constitution-boner. Nobody breaks the law around him, unless of course it's him. I've also increased the entertainment value of this show by replacing "hour" with "episode" and "day" with "season" in my head. It's just funnier when someone says they'll release the virus in 3 episodes rather than 3 hours.
OMG HE JUST TRIED TO TACKLE A CAR. A MOVING CAR.
That didn't work, so he just shot out the tires instead
Definitely check it out. If you end up liking it, you've got 192 episodes plus a 2-hour TV movie, plus possibly a big-screen movie in the next 2 years to keep you entertained.
For all the hate that Wayne Palmer gets, President Taylor is the worse than him. She embarrassed herself in seasons 7 and 8. If a woman never gets elected president, historians can point to her as a big reason why.
btw, Janeane Garofalo's character is in the top 5 of most annoying characters. She is basically Dana Brody grown up.
