One upvote? ONE fucking upvote?
Love BoB, was lukewarm on The Pacific like everyone else seems to be. Was it weird that my favorite Pacific episode was the one where he's in Australia and falls in love with that super hot Greek girl? Am I teh ghey?

I convinced my girlfriend to watch the series with me last year (we're actually in the middle of The Pacific now). I wasn't sure how she'd receive it, but she ended up loving it. She went out of her way to ask questions and learn the historical context.
A few weeks after we finished the series, I was having a hell of a week at school and work. On a rainy Saturday, she told me to get ready and that we were going for a road trip. I didn't know where we were going, but I eventually found myself in Hershey, PA. I was confused because it was something like March and the amusement park wasn't open or anything. She drove me to a small local museum. Unbeknownst to me, this little museum housed all of Major Winters' personal effects from WWII, on loan from his wife. Major Winters had died a few months earlier, and his wife thought it was appropriate to celebrate his service by sharing his effects with the public for a short period. We spent a few hours poring over all of his medals, flags, letters, maps, uniforms, knives, and souvenirs from Europe. It was pretty much the best surprise ever.
We did also go on the Chocolate World tour while we were there. It was great perspective. Things like Chocolate World exist because of people like Dick Winters.
