Also I don't want to totally highjack this fine dining discussion but if anyone has any seedier recommendations I'm highly interested. I plan to eat a shit ton of crab cakes, lake trout, pit beef, ribs, etc. on my trip home. All those years living in Bmore and I pretty much never ate crab cakes because we grew up doing it ourselves so paying a premium seemed absurd. Only one I remember getting was Faidley's ocassionally on my lunch break. I also slept big time on pit beef and the only place I've had is Chaps. Full of regret now...

Pioneer is already on my list.

I've been there twice. First time was about 3-4 years ago and it was great. Second time was last year. A group of us went and had the absolute worst service I've ever gotten anywhere. I won't be back.

Years ago and wasn't blown away, but I didn't really know dick about bbq then. May try it again but more likely just do my rib hunting around Indian Head.

Woodberry is excellent and luckily (:rollseyes) it's also my gf's favorite restaurant so we go there a few times a year.

Agreed on the Govt Mule, it's really great. If you ever go, ask for the waiter Ajon (ae-zhon). We had him the first time I went, and I can honestly say it was the best dining experience I've ever had.

I agree with this. Woodberry is good but not one of the top five places in the city, imo.

I'm looking forward to the opening of Of Love and Regret across the street from Blue Hill next month. It's a brewpub partnership between the chef at Jack's (my favorite affordable place) and Stillwater.

I was thinking about trying Woodberry for brunch one of these weekends (I've never been.) Anything I should definitely order?

Stumbled across this at random today and thought a few of you might get a kick out of this outsider's perspective (especially Jdawg who I found on another food forum...you can run but you can't hide). Pretty old thread but some of the familiars are on there.

There's a great Mexican place in the White Marsh Mall foodcourt of all places. I've had the beef tongue tacos and a lamb torta (forget the name) and both were excellent.
