At least 13 dead in Colorado after shooting at Batman Premiere

There were four cops at my theater last night. Is that not standard operating procedure everywhere?

This type of thing would never happen at Beltway Plaza. Someone might get shot in the dark parking lot outside, but no one would make themselves an easy target by standing in front of the theater and doing anything. Let alone pulling out a gas mask and a gun.

I don't want to further side track this, but in my opinion, as events like this become more common, we're going to rearm ourselves as a populace, rather than have more gun control.

It will be one or the other if it continues.

  • And of course, noted dipshit Brian Ross is right there with a Tea Party reference, after looking up the Tea Party in Colorado and finding a Jim Holmes. What outstanding journalism.

The Usual Suspects: ABC's Ross, Stephanolpoulos Point to Tea Party in Dark Knight Shooting UPDATE: Wrong Jim Holmes?

On Good Morning America, ABC News Brian Ross and George Stephanolpoulos suggested that the Tea Party might be connected to the mass shootings early this morning in an Aurora, CO theater during a screening of the new Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises. The mainstream media attempted to blame the Tea Party for the Tuscon shootings in January 2011, shortly after Republicans swept the midterm elections. Now, in the critical 2012 elections, the mainstream media seems poised to do the same--and ABC News has led the way.

Five bucks says that guy has nothing to do with this and was shot in a unrelated event. That is how reddit works.

Yeah, reporting that without knowing if its actually him is terrible journalism.

  • Through all of this, I wonder how many people are thanking God because they attempted to buy tickets to this showing of the movie and were told it was sold out.

  • The chances of me going to Colorado to visit friends has dwindled sharply. I'd rather go to East St. Louis where it's safer.

  • Guy's name is quite common. Would be nice if the police could release more information about him (middle name, address, something...) so these other people will stop being bothered. It's not like they don't already have this info.

This would be like Fox News running something like, "We're getting reports that Barack Obama once went by the name James Holmes...Barack Obama might be the shooter. We're looking into it."

Its like when my dad found out he was on the do not fly list for a period (and I probably was too since they apparently don't really care about middle names), its like "uhh....HALP"

All I can think of now is the wave of copycats that happened in the wake of Columbine. Please, God, let this be isolated.

That's what I'm worried about. Whether it be Batman or other big movie premieres. I'm still amazed it doesn't happen more at (or right outside) big sporting events.

    Dearest random Facebook people who keep confusing me for a mass murderer and yet still send me Facebook requests.;

I appreciate the fact that you are trying to become better-informed about the occurrences last night in Aurora, but you have been somewhat mislead, in that I am not the man who did it. I am not a 24-year-old gun-slinging killer from Aurora, I am a 22-year-old book-slinging mass eater from Littleton. Somewhat distinct, I would assume. But I would appreciate if you would read this particular post an not assume that it would be interesting to be friends with someone on Facebook who is very probably going to be in jail and not be able to confirm your friend requests anyway, or even be friends with his girlfriend, who had the rather interesting experience of having to tell someone she had a job interview with that she is not, in fact dating a serial killer. James Holmes happens to be a pretty common name, surprisingly, so try not to jump the gun.

Regards, A different guy named James Holmes

I don't know what you mean, but it had the cadence of a joke.
