Aruba???

Going right after Easter for 5 days. Never been. In fact using my passport for the first time ever. Staying all-inclusive at the Tamarijin All-Inclusive Resort in the low rise district. Not familiar at all with what to do with my five days on the island except sit on the beach and drink, doubt my wife would appreciate me making out with or killing sixteen year olds... Anyone got any Aruba tips?

Take an off roading tour. they drive you around on 4x4 jeeps and show you the terrain/pretty nice scenery.

If you hit the casinos watch the dealers carefully. Caught one guy trying to cheat twice in three hours at blackjack.
Worth it to rent a Jeep and drive to the Natural Bridge. Dinner at El Gaucho (Argentinian Beef) is a MUST.

Land in Aruba, keep going to Bonaire, don't look back. There's a reason you got such a great deal to go to Aruba.

When I was 8 my family went to Aruba.
On the way down the Venezuelan government got mad at the U.S for grounding some of their planes in Miami so they called in a bomb scare to the Aruban airport. We had to make an emergency landing in Caracas, Venezuela where armed venezuelan police boarded our plane. We were essentially held hostage by Venezuela for 10 hours before we could take off again.
This could happen to you.

This could happen to you.

They repaid the favor years later by sending Greivis Vasquez to Maryland though.

I am sitting next to a native Aruban as I type these notes:
1. El Goucho is a tourist trap, try Amazonia instead or Texas de Brazil( lower cost same beef)
2. Natural bridge collapsed in 2005. Smaller one exists but you can't get close to it.
3. Eagle Beach and Santa Lago are the nicest beaches
4. Baby Beach is good for first time snorkelers but only when the cruise ships are not in.
5. Flying Fishbone has a sister restaurant named Screaming Eagle that is far superior
6. Marandi is a great place for a romantic meal
7. Best Dutch pancakes is Linda's
8. More challenging snorkeling and walk in scuba is Malmok.
9. Bad news - hottest blond from Aruba is in the US and still alive
10. Best car rental - Tropic Car Rent ask for Hans (tropiccarrent@setarnetaruba.aw)
