I used to follow the NFL very closely and watch it all day Sunday and Monday night. Now I follow the Steelers and just pick up on other NFL news sporadically. I might turn it on on Sundays but mainly as background noise

Yeah, I rotate through stuff. Although overall I'm watching less random college basketball and hockey this year.

Like I said, I doubt people are suddenly working 60 hours a week now to fill their time in different ways. You're just wasting it differently.

Replaced with my daughters soccer games and local middle school boys soccer. (My daughter plays in a coed league so I've seen a lot of the boys grow up making the games interesting.)

So any time not spent working is a waste of time? That's a bleak outlook.

That was referring to the "too busy" line people throw around. Especially if you're in your 20s and don't have kids. WTF else do you do? How are you too busy for sports watching?

For me, I've always loved college basketball and the NFL, regardless of whether it had anything to do with teams I root for. Those were the two sports where I'd always catch a game that was on if it remotely interested me. The NBA/NHL/MLB I all like, but my interest drastically wanes when it doesn't have anything to do with impacting teams I root for.

This year was odd because my level of interest in the NFL lessened. I have no idea if it was strike related, and I'm sure some had to do with the Eagles being so disappointing (though I've normally maintained interest even in years the Eagles weren't good), but I found myself much more drawn to a generic CFB game than the NFL. I just thought the product was more entertaining in college this season. I have no idea if that will switch back next year, but this was the first year in my life that random college football interest supplanted the NFL.

Definitely makes NFL so much more fun.

The Ravens have me at this weird point in my fandom where for the NFL the only games I have the least bit of interest in are Ravens games. Like, two best teams in the NFC squaring off on MNF and I'm watching It's Always Sunny reruns. Couldn't care less.

And of the Ravens games, the only ones I get worked up about and really into are the big games (Steelers, Pats, Colts, etc.) but then when it comes to playoff games...well, frankly, I become a fucking lunatic and mentally unstable about the Ravens.

It's weird.

My biggest problem with baseball is that I'm a Pirates' fan.
