Some of my fondest memories as a kid were watching the Andy Griffith Show and MASH with my great grandfather. RIP.

BREAKING NEWS: Friend Says Andy Griffith Has Died

Former UNC President Bill Friday says Andy Griffith died this morning in Dare County. Friday, who is a close friend of the actor, confirmed that to WITN News.

Loved watching the re-runs when I was a kid. Living in North Carolina added alot to it as well because you could visit the places that inspired Mayberry.
He also was in some great movies. A Face in the Crowd is an underappreciated classic.

I don't know if "The Andy Griffith Show" is the most popular TV show in the history of the southern part of the U.S., but it is almost certainly the most beloved.
Griffith later brought the seersucker suit to network TV, which is quite an accomplishment in itself.
