Abortion

  • Tim Tebow is an abortion of a QB.

  • I honestly thought this was about Rangoon or the football program in general. Not too often the same thread could be on either board appropriately.

  • We dont have enough abortions.

  • I'd imagine that, in our brave new world of no abortions and 'life begins at conception,' we'll need to beef up our police forces, b/c I'd assume there are going to need to be investigations into all miscarriages, correct? After all, A HUMAN LIFE HAS ENDED!!11 Or are we going to excuse all first trimester miscarriages (which is when the vast majority happen) and just investigate the later ones?

Look, as a physician, the husband of an OB, and a father, I understand that the idea of abortion is incredibly unsettling, but I also understand that pregnancy is a medical condition that carries significant risks in terms of both morbidity and mortality to the mother, and I likewise understand that a huge number of fetuses never make it to age of viability anyway.

Treating a fetus as an independent human being, regardless of gestational age, does not make sense either legally or medically. At some point it goes from becoming the POTENTIAL to become a human being to an actual human being, and that point is not at conception. If it were, we'd ALL be serial murderers. Hell, my wife an I have apparently killed AT LEAST 3 (and I'd wager more in the ballpark of 15-20).

Just flip this sentence around for conservatives. Conservatives are against abortion but for the death penalty. Go figure.

I am fairly conservative and am "dead set" against the death penalty and abortion after a heart starts to beat, my own definition of when life starts.

    So, at 6 weeks?

FYI, the eventual miscarriage rate at 6 weeks is more than 15% in the general population.

    At age 35, it's 25% at 6 weeks

    At age 40, it's 42% at 6 weeks.

I too am against the death penalty. But for the life of me I cant understand how someone would equate killing a convicted murderer with that of an innocent.

For such a time as this.

So then is there any abortion you do not like?

  • Yeah, that game on Saturday was one abortion that I didn't particularly care for.

*Most overrated issue in the history of our country.

Anyone wonder why this is a non issue in pretty much the rest of the world?
