ive never heard of banh mi until this thread but it sounds absolutely awful
btw according to wikipedia banh mi is the name of the roll not the the name of a sandwich
melted ham and cheese all day

This is the result that should be expected when it's apparently impossible to get a decent Banh Mi in the state of Maryland (unless there is somewhere in Baltimore that I missed). I'm not saying it's right, but it's hardly surprising.

As one who nominated the Croque, I feel I have to come in and supply some defense.
According to my own resident sammich snobs, this joint has legit Banh Mi: www.baoquette.com. Some of my fellow NY'ers can expound on where in the Banh Mi pantheon this place falls.
I have been to this place a few times, though it is my only frame of reference for this style. The sandwich is perfectly fine, but nothing moved.
I've never had a croque monsieur not deliver awesome. And as a bonus, you can mix up the madame as well. It's two sandwiches in one!
