Worst home loss since 1999

  • Per Patrick Stevens:

    Maryland's worst margin of defeat at home since an 82-64 loss to Duke on Jan. 3, 1999.

    And that was against the best team in the country and it was tied at halftime. This was Virginia Tech with eight healthy players. What a disaster. If the Gary Williams era ends soon, I think this is the game I will remember as the catalyst that got him out.

    Really? The last time for me was William & Mary last year. Gary's mediocre recruiting will always leave us with teams like this. One legitimate ACC player and 4 guys who would not sniff minutes for any of our teams of the late 90s into 2003. How can you have a recruiting class of Adrian Bowie, Cliff Tucker and Dino Gregory and hope to compete in the ACC? I love Gary and hope he gets his name on the court someday. But it would not bother me one bit if he decided to hang it up very soon.

    That's happened like at least 3 times. Let's make it happen again!

    And then fool us into thinking we can make a serious run with a favorable bracket ... then lay a turd in the ACC Tournament to a crappy team ... struggle but beat a bad first-round opponent ... lose in the second round.

    That's the blueprint.

  • Was this game karma for me laughing at UNC losing to GT by 20, and for me insisting that Gary and K were the top 2 coaches in the ACC?

    I don't get it. I sat there tonight and watched Jordan repeatedly calling for the ball, tons of standing around the 3-pt arc without ever driving inside, and about 1 million turnovers. Everyone in my section could tell what plays that POS VTech team was going to run - why couldn't the guys on the floor?

    Yes this is on Gary but I have to believe he was not telling them to dance around the arc and clang 3 point attempts. Then again, I do blame Gary for not pulling Pe'shon and Mosley earlier. If the players aren't following your instructions, put other players in.
