  • North Jim hates Brenda Frese at least 34% as much as Hogie hates Randy Edsall.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and i have never seen anyone who cares much about his/her's. If Brenda is such a bad coach, why is the program she runs #5 in the nation this week? Obviously, the woman knows how to put together a basketball team. I would say she probably knows more about her occupation than a whiney little poster with some weird grudge.

    Who cares?

  • Thomas leads 4 in double figures, No. 5 Maryland women beat George Mason 78-50

    By Associated Press

    4:09 p.m. EST, December 11, 2011

FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) — Alyssa Thomas had 18 points to lead four players in double figures and No. 5 Maryland beat George Mason 78-50 on Sunday.

Laurin Mincy scored 15 points, Lynetta Kizer had 14 and Anjale Barrett 13 for the Terrapins (11-0).

Coming off a team-record 75-point win over Delaware State on Thursday, the Terrapins trailed briefly early, but built a 24-point lead by halftime.

Maryland scored the first 10 points of the second half and Barrett's jumper at the 15-minute mark put the Terrapins up by 36. Maryland eventually led by as many as 40 points and George Mason got no closer than 28 the rest of the way.

Taleia Moton led the Patriots (6-3) with 16 points and Janaa Pickard added 12.

Maryland, now 5-0 all-time against George Mason, shot 46 percent from the field for the game and outrebounded George Mason 59-33. The Patriots made just 17 of 71 field goal attempts.

George Mason hit three of its first four shots, including two 3-pointers, and led 8-4. Led by Thomas and Alicia DeVaughn, the Terrapins went on a 12-0 run and outscored the Patriots 40-12 over the remainder of the half.

After Moton's three-point play pulled George Mason within 21-13, the Patriots went nearly 9 minutes without scoring and trailed by as many as 27 points.

With their jump shots not falling, the Terrapins pounded the ball inside, scoring 28 of their 44 first-half points in the paint, including 12 off offensive rebounds. Maryland made 17 of 34 shots and outrebounded George Mason 31-12 in the half.

Unable to sustain their early solid shooting, the Patriots made just 7 of 33 shots in the first half

  • Has Kim been hurt? I just realized the fact that she hasn't played in the last several games. I know she's got the chronic knee problems so I was wondering if that's been plaguing her again.

    terp121

  • They might be "saving" her for games that are more challenging, which begin in early January when they play three of four ACC games on the road, including against UNC and Miami, I believe. A brutual stretch.

I will be at the game tonight. Final game before ACC season starts.

Elena Della Donne plays for Delaware and is the nations leading scorer. Maryland also leads the nation in rebounding margin. Tianna Hawkin is in the top 5 nationally in FG% and offensive rebounds.

  • Terps up 1 at the break. Lower bowl is full except for the wall so the crowd is good. So far Ellana Donne from Delaware only has 6pts so the defense on her has been solid. You can tell she can play so the second half should be interesting.

Btw - Bobby's Burger Palace was awesome pregame..

Nancy Pelosi - The Gift that Keeps on Giving..

  • thanks for the update

  • 78-66 Terps with 5 min left. Donne now has 25 but she has been the only one playing for Delaware in the second half. Mincy and Thompson both have 23 for Maryland.

  • Terps win 85-76! Big win for the Girls..

  • Went to game last night. Pretty good crowd that really got into the game.

Alyssa Thomas had the big first half and Mincy and Barrett with the huge second half. Barrett had a great crossover move in the game that would have made Allen Iverson proud.

Elena Della Donne is the best WCBB player in the country (over Griner). Can handle the rock, jump, rebound, block shots. Plays all 5 positions. A truly special player.

Better than Griner? That's high praise.

The Terps are really deep and should only improve as the season improves given that they are a pretty young team.

  • No question. Della Donne is better than Griner. I was there last night and she absolutely does it all. Inside game, 3 point range, penetrates with either hand, plays D and has an unstoppable up and under move.

    imaterp1

  • I don't know all that much about WCB but Della Donne is the best, if not among the best. What a talent. Wow.

Maryland has one of the better teams they've ever put together and that is saying something. Just a load to handle if you are an opposing team.
