  • no. hes definitely done after next year. he'll get a pass this year only because we're the most injury riddled team in college football. otherwise he'd be done at the end of this month

    I think Wendel is right. He'll still be here, and it won't matter what happens during the first brutal Big Ten season...

    Welcome to the B1G, terps! Can't wait to make a road trip to Byrd someday and see Maryland come to Michigan Stadium someday. I find it ironic that the terrapins are now here because I have 3 tortoises as pets. I guess I'll have to put Michigan flags on their cages when Michigan plays MD. biggrin

    Looks like most likely this will create a B1G Lacrosse conference as well (assuming rutgers does in fact follow suit tomorrow). Michigan just started their program last year after being a very successful club team since 1940. This means there will be Michigan, ohio, PSU, UMD and most likely rutgers. Plus all of those teams plus northwestern on the women's side. Should be interesting.

    Michigan and the Terps have met 3 times on the football field and 6 times on the hardwood. Michigan won all 3 meetings in football (1985, 1989 & 1990). But the basketball series is deadlocked at 3-3 with the most recent meeting coming in 2008 with the terps winning @ Comcast Center.

    Assuming Edsall is still UMD's coach when 2014 rolls around, Michigan is 1-0 against him. A rich rod coached Michigan team beat down his uconn team that won the Big East that year 30-10 in the rededication game at Michigan Stadium.

    Always cool to see people walk into The Big House for the first time. I always get a huge kick out of their reactions, especially when nebraska visited last year. So make sure you come visit! Good luck the rest of this football season!

  • This has been one of the most entertaining threads so far. I think we just need to start a thread where all current Big10 fans can come and trash each other. We get to vote on who is best.

    FWIW, I've hated OSU for a long time, so we already have that in common.

    Seriously though, our stadium is one of the worst you'll ever see. It will take some time to make up for some of the horrible eff ups our past AD made, but hopefully we'll get there. Comcast, OTOH, is great.

    We ( well most of us, I think) are thrilled to be joining your ranks and we can't wait to start mixing it up with you guys.

  • Best feature of Spartan Stadium are the ramps that lead to the upper decks. They are on about a 60 degree angle. No guilt about eating that extra brat at the tailgate, you will get your cardio in just getting to your seat.

    Extra bonus, during late season games the ramps are coated with a slick layer of frost!

    Yes, it will take a while to get a feel for the varying fanbases, as opposed to their representations about themselves and others.

  • Please excuse the arrogance and idiocy of my fellow Big Ten-ers. Not all MSU fans act like they have an unnatural obsession with the school down the road and vice versa.

    I was very excited to have the Terps join our conference. One of my longtime friends went to Maryland, so I've gained a lot of respect watching you guys play in basketball and football. You'll bring some great new competition to the basketball conference. I think you'll love the Big Ten Network's "Journey" show - I personally cannot wait to watch the first segments about Maryland in a couple of years.

    I look forward to seeing you guys on the road or even at your home games when my team visits. Best of luck this basketball season.... I don't want to run into you guys in the Tourney - you've got a hell of a team!

    Nope it definitely is me. That was taken when DB stopped by my tailgate after the 2011 game against purdue.

    I picture them as the midwestern version of NC State hick fans, only maybe with a bit of a tech/geek twist. But that's sort of a wild, uninformed impression.
