Welcome to the B1G from Ann Arbor, MI

  • Welcome to the B1G, terps! Can't wait to make a road trip to Byrd someday and see Maryland come to Michigan Stadium someday. I find it ironic that the terrapins are now here because I have 3 tortoises as pets. I guess I'll have to put Michigan flags on their cages when Michigan plays MD. biggrin

Looks like most likely this will create a B1G Lacrosse conference as well (assuming rutgers does in fact follow suit tomorrow). Michigan just started their program last year after being a very successful club team since 1940. This means there will be Michigan, ohio, PSU, UMD and most likely rutgers. Plus all of those teams plus northwestern on the women's side. Should be interesting.

Michigan and the Terps have met 3 times on the football field and 6 times on the hardwood. Michigan won all 3 meetings in football (1985, 1989 & 1990). But the basketball series is deadlocked at 3-3 with the most recent meeting coming in 2008 with the terps winning @ Comcast Center.

Assuming Edsall is still UMD's coach when 2014 rolls around, Michigan is 1-0 against him. A rich rod coached Michigan team beat down his uconn team that won the Big East that year 30-10 in the rededication game at Michigan Stadium.

Always cool to see people walk into The Big House for the first time. I always get a huge kick out of their reactions, especially when nebraska visited last year. So make sure you come visit! Good luck the rest of this football season!

    Go Blue!

  • Things to know about the Big Ten.

    1) Everyone hates Ohio State, because they beat you and are then genuinely nice afterwords.

    2) Everyone hates Michigan, because they lose while pulling a "golden domer" as I call it, and bring up how they were awesome back in the day. Show me a humble "Michigan Man" and I will show lying asshole that went to Ann Arbor in the late 80's.

    3) Basketball wise, Wisconsin is just a ton of 6'8" gumpy white kids that will flop if you blink in their direction. You will want to kill the refs when you are in Madison.

    4) Purdue will be good at one sport every 6-8 years.

    5) Penn State, just, aghhh.

    6) Indiana, forks down, is worse then you at football. Wild but it's true.

    7) Northwestern will beat you when you least expect it.

    8) Be prepared to have your mind blown as far as stadiums go. Best in the country. Below are some pics of Spartan Stadium, which is very impressive and was voted as the 7 out of 12 by ESPN this summer.

    9) Illinois and Minnesota are basically completely irrelevant.

    10) Nebraska can help you adjust.

His mind will be blown on how spartan stadium is half empty consistently. Come on. That place is a depressing dump and it's a shame state doesn't put any real money into it. Might as well tear it down and start over.

Also if you brag about having the largest scoreboards in the conference, I will remind you 50% of them are plastered with ads. That HD ribbon on both ends is a horrendous eyesore.

Just need Ohio State to kick our ass in football then offer me a beer afterwords and we will be on our way.

Do you know what happens when ohio gets their ass kicked in columbus and what their fan reaction is like?

Don't bring the kids. In 2000 it was like one of those gang movies where two groups are both walking towards each other with an inevitable brawl coming.

  • Now there, Byrd will hopefully see some serious renovations once we get this cash flowing that will make us richer than Dubai.

The fact that this dude thinks OSU is nice to you at any point whatsoever (unless the poster is inherently nice anyway) is hilarious enough. But what makes it even better is how he has taken on the ol' Crying Izzo charm when whining about Wisconsin.

    Fuck Michigan State.

Welcome to the Big Ten! Please dispose of all ACC-related emotional baggage and hatred because your cup will indeed soon overfloweth with our own insane brand of loathing! catfight

Not to mention, MSU football stadium blows!! you have concrete walls about 4 steps out of bounds. In the BIG, they probably have the 5th or 6th best stadium and that's being generous....

I would say Indiana's memorial stadium > spartan stadium. It is amazing what they done with the place down there. I would say Ross Ade is the worst, followed by Ryan Field.

Is that you in that picture? Are you really 13 years old? If so I bet you haven't been to half of these stadiums and when you went to OSU in 2000 you were about 4 years old. Spartan Stadium, like most of the stadiums in the Big Ten, is a fantastic. OSU fans have been amazing to me the multiple times we have been down there.

Here's your introduction to Michigan arrogance. You'll probably only feel the barest vestiges of it out on the East Coast, and that'll be enough for you to thank your lucky stars you're not in closer proximity.

Welcome to the B1G though, for real. Looking forward to some good basketball matchups.
