UVA and UNC are like the friends you invited to a work friend's party, but we bring a couple of dickheads with us (NCSU and VT) who try to steal his stereo equipment and hit on his wife.

  • From the Sabre:

I did not say that a ten team league was realistic (which I do not), just
what I would like to see. With regards to atmosphere -- games in
Charlottesville are fun for everyone, including the visitors. Fans at UVa
understand that it is just entertainment and that it does not mean
anything beyond a pleasant way to spend an afternoon. I sincerely hope
that everyone who comes to Scott feels welcome and is not subjected to
anything that would reflect poorly on the University or its supporters. I
was at this year's LSU-Alabama game and that crowd was pretty bad
(throwing drinks, chanting profanity, threatening violence to complete
strangers whose only offense was backing a different school). I never
want that to be associated with UVa. I have always viewed UVa as a
classy place and I think our atmosphere reflects that. But I agree we
need to fill those empty seats.

If he is representative maybe they should switch over to a gentlemanly game like cricket. Seriously, sports are fun because we care, we save our civility for other things like...okay maybe he's just a better person than me but I can't think of anything. School I guess?

Definitely. They waited to see if the ACC would sink or swim in 1953, then jumped aboard in 1954 when they saw it was viable.

  • If the B1G is going to keep the "virtuous" or "traditional" contiguous states model, then UVA is a necessary evil to get UNC, if it were to want to go that route.

  • So....interestingly enough......whispers have begun about our level of reciprocal interest in the B1G. This could be a fun few months, although from a political standpoint, I think we pretty much have to wait on Clemson and FSU to bail to the Big 12 so we can make the "we don't have a choice" argument.....

If i were you guys i wouldn't wait, I'd start putting posters on telephone poles tonight to try to find someone who'll take NCState....it might take some time. Maybe there's a bulletin board at the library?

Those guys will fight to the absolute death in the legislature if this actually comes down the pipe. They know good and well the second we sign on for another major conference (be it B1G or SEC) without them; their athletic department is nuked forever. Like, shock and awe, smoking hole in the ground, forever hold your peace type nuked.

  • I don't see them not landing in the SEC along with VT.

It seems that many of the Wolfies are convinced the SEC has a freshly made bed and a clean set of towels waiting for them. If the big meteor hits the parceling of the North Carolina schools will be an interesting study.

  • kentucky, tennessee, vanderbilt anybody?

Edit: 3 teams struggling hardcore in the SEC and not keeping up while the rest of the conference just keeps getting better. sounds like a perfect fit strictly for competition purposes

  • NC State would end up in the SEC or Big 12 & would be just fine......in fact, might be better off than UNC in the Big 10 in terms of football recruiting.

    1) Yes, SEC wants a piece of the NC market.

    2) No, they're still State.
