I know Hogie wants the whole enchilada but even a second tier of seating would look SO much better balancing out Byrd.

To be fair, the only thing technically preventing Comcast from hosting major concerts is the strength of the roof supports, which can't support the rigging needed for big shows. However, I thought the administration was considering adding steel up there to correct this problem.

That is the technical side. Once that is solved, it comes down to marketing.

You can't compete with Verizon Center obviously, but you may be able to siphon off business from the Patriot Center which gets a lot of smaller shows. But the Patriot Center has two big advantages over Comcast.

One, it is located in the far wealthier Northern Virginia suburbs.

Two, it is owned and operated by the same people that own and operate the Verizon Center. That means they are marketing and running events in a different atmosphere that can ever happen at a university-administered facility.

If MD wants to make Comcast an "every night" venue, it needs to turn over operations to a professional management company and tell the university to get out of way on things like parking, security, etc. Unless that happens, Comcast is the third player in the market and will not get much business.

all in all pretty meh....same graphic designs as last year, though it will look better on turf than on our crappy bermuda "grass". Like the alternating gradient pattern every 10 yards, I think that's a good look as turf fields can sometimes have a really unnatural solid looking color if not broken up some. If it really is up to 15 degrees cooler i guess that helps..but it's not like the other team won't be playing at a different temperature so there's no real advantage

From the rendering it looks like the field is lowered (or the wall between the field and the bleacher has been raised)? I thought this wasn't going to be the case? Perhaps just a sloppy rendering..

i actually wouldn't mind seeing the turtle print idea put to life (like in the black field renderings). outside of that, looks decent.

I guess I'm more used to seeing alternating every 5 (except at the 45-45), so it just seems a little weird

Yawn. Its not horrible (save the terrafont - much prefer Terps script or flag M). I agree at least they didn't remove the flag endzones.

I'd guess that they're just shown that way for the rendering because it looks nicer than signs for Papa John's and College Park Car Wash.

The badness of the terrafont is ridiculously overrated. Could we do better? yes, but it's a pretty basic font that neither adds nor takes away from the field/jerseys/whatever.
