Terps Hockey hypothetical

I know I'm a huge hockey fan and many of you are not, but would you be alright with switching conferences you guys if we got a legitimate hockey team? College hockey is extremely fun to watch, and we would be the only legit hockey team this far south. With the caps fanbase as good as it is, and with the nhl being locked out indefinitely, it really does not seem like a bad move to attract a decent amount of fans. it seems like a good idea to me besides the cost (which would really be helped once we actually moved)

Yes, I think we all would be ok with switching to the Big 10 as long as we got a hockey team.

Would really like to see hockey here. I grew up in an ice hockey-crazed area and have really missed not having that on campus.

cole field house would be perfect. size, shape, everything. thats a major cost out of the way.
and those pads look sweet. id like to see more design on the jerseys because they look a little plain, but im sure UA will take care of that

You obviously didnt see the Caps fan base circa 2004. Awful, awful bandwagoners. If you want a good fan base, head up to an original six city or Philly.
Regardless, I'll give the redskins the benefit of the doubt and call them a good fan base, which doesnt translate to people filling up Byrd. Plus, there's no way UMD hockey would be a) good early on or b) able to recruit. Basically we'd be adding another team like our football team without the benefit of home grown talent that we could potentially lure in (i.e. Diggs et al.)

why wouldnt we be able to recruit here? there really are not that many good hockey schools, and we have under armour (which i dont think has even made hockey equipment yet)
it also must be enticing for kids who have lived up north their whole life to move down here and play at the southernmost hockey school. i think we would compete recruiting wise without a doubt. and is it really that hard to fill up cole for hockey games? i feel like that would be such a great environment because so many students would wanna go watch a cheap hockey game.

I'm not big hockey fan, but there's something to be said for watching something like college hockey in person in a relatively intimate arena.
