  • Kiene got a write up by PG in one of their summer wraps

    http://www.perfectgame.org/Articles/View.aspx?article=6094

1B Tim Kiene, Maryland Kiene only hit .279 for the Terrapins last season, but he might be primed for a much more productive campaign in 2012. Kiene is having a fantastic summer at the NECBL. He’s hitting an impressive .325 with 16 runs scored, 41 hits, four doubles, nine home runs and 30 RBIs. He also has struck out 25 times and walked on eight occasions.

  • what position is Hockaday expected to play? 3B? maybe DH as a freshman?

    esquire

  • I'd imagine one of the corner spots. Could possibly move to the OF, I know one of the FR that came on strong to finish last year was a 3B.

    jsh

  • how is this lineup (by position, not batting order)

    LF Montville
    CF Wacker
    RF White
    3B Stinnett
    SS Robriguez
    2B Holland
    1B Kiene
    C Ethison/Ramsay
    DH Hockaday/KIlbourne

if Wacker doesen't hit well you could move White to CF which opens a spot in RF for KIlbourne or Hockaday, also Convissar might be in the mix somewhere, plus some of the newcomers, also if Kiene is nubs in the field he could DH and put any number of players at 1B

  • Starting pitching

    Harmen
    Beck
    Kirkpatrick
    Carroll
    Ghysels
    O'Shea (LHP)

Carroll and Kirkpatrick had the best seasons, Beck and Ghysels had good summers and Harmen is coming of TJ surgery. I don't know where O'Shea pitched this summer but he was a Starter at his JC

  • Article on two commits from Brooklyn Seth just posted in the twitter thread on premium. Martir plays at my high school, kids a monster catcher but was stuck behind Elvin Soto who is heading to Pitt next year. I saw a bunch of mentions of Cuas in the papers throughout the year, put up ridiculous numbers as you can see from the article.

Certainly nice to see Bakich getting into this area. Tons of talent and quite frankly I would think heading to Maryland to play ball would be more appealing than a lot of the Big East schools.

Xaverian's Martir verbals to Maryland, joining longtime friend Cuas - NYPOST.com

Jose Cuas and Kevin Martir joked about playing college baseball together, like all good friends and teammates do. The two played different positions, were both well-respected prospects and are

  • I have a 14 year old I coach in NoVa who hit 87 at Turner Field a couple of weeks ago. I have already talked to Burton, Nieman, and Bernie about him, blowing up the mailbox with letters and what not. Kid is nasty.

Oh and anyone in the Annapolis area - TC Young Alumni bar crawl downtown Annapolis on August 27, Bakich supposedly will be joining in the festivities.

Any word on fall scheduele? any early rumors on spring scheduele?

    rdez79

  • I thought ugw said something last year about them going to a tournament in California this year. I might be mistaken or maybe things fell through.

    jsh

  • true, big time opener on west coast.

    triangleterp

  • Bakich is insanely energetic and enthusiastic, spoke to him breifly at the bar crawl in Baltimore but since he seemed pretty swamped (and tired from driving back from WV for a recruiting trip) I hope to get more time with him in Annapolis, great guy if anybody has a chance to make it out to any of the events. Really wish I could swing the golf tournament.

Hockaday top prospect in Cal Ripken league

    No. 1. K.J. Hockaday, 3b/of, Youse's Orioles (Fr., Maryland)

Hockaday passes the scout's eye test: He looks like a player as soon as he walks off the team bus. He's a solid 6-foot-3, 210-pound righthanded hitter who should be physical enough to profile at third base or a corner outfield spot. Playing fresh out of high school in a college wood-bat league, Hockaday started slowly. His last 11 games (including one in the playoffs) showed why the Orioles drafted him in the 14th round this June. In that stretch, he hit .353 with a .421 on-base percentage against college pitchers. Hockaday has strong wrists and will hit pitches on the outer half to the right-center gap and to right. He's a slightly below-average runner but not a base clogger. On defense, his reflexes are quick enough to play third base at the next level. He has average arm strength and throws from a quirky, low three-quarters slot.

    "Hi Everyone,

We play UCLA on Fri Feb 17 @ 6PM; Saturday at 2PM; and Sunday @ 10AM

    Go Terps!"

Last year Texas, now UCLA, that's so sick. And to clarify that is @UCLA. All we ever did was go to Jacksonville and/or Winthrop.
