Redskins-Rams thread

  • The talent level on this team is very low. How many players would rank in either (1) the top ten at their position or (2) a player who has the potential to become a top ten player at his position?

    1. McNabb
    2. Trent Williams
    3. Cooley (Maybe)
    4. Orakpo

That's about it unless you think Landry's a top 10 given the defense being run, Haynesworth as a top 10 because he is in the right defense, or Fletcher.

Then, think of the fact that this is the oldest team in the NFL and how many players you want from this roster on the team 3 yrs from now. Basically, the team's a complete disaster and it needs an overhaul of the WR, RB, and OL right now and not too far from now a change in personnel at DL, LB, and DB.

  • haynesworth is top 10 if he is on any other team......but not after the shanny ego clash, the huge weight loss, the idiotic haslett d, etc etc

also, wasn't portis benched after he self tackled himself on that 29 yd run?

I'm not sure why we're surprised at the defense. We knew we were going square pegs round hole with like half the personnel.

Seeing Lorenzo Alexander or Andre Carter in coverage makes me laugh. How could anyone think that is a good idea?

I come pretty close to this every now and then. For whatever reason, I just can't quit them completely. I've made strides though -- I really don't take losses hard at all anymore. I end up mostly laughing at POS games like this one. It is discouraging that this shit just seems to happen over and over again ... across different coaches, players, etc. My only conclusion is the common thread -- Snyder is a cancer on this organization. Hogie's right.

Don't anyone give up just yet. Rome wasn't built in a day. The deficiencies on this team weren't going to be fixed in one off season. Sahanallehan addressed our two biggest needs last off season; QB and LT. They also got us a pretty good PK, and some serviceable O linemen (that will be backups on this team once they get their guys in here).

Remember the roster purge right before the start of the season? That was done solely to clear cap space and the Redskins will have a ton of it when the new collective bargaining agreement is signed.

There will be a plethora of free agents after this season and the Redskins will be one of the few teams that can restock their roster. Expect some O line help, D line help, another WR (maybe two), a RB, and maybe another linebacker who actually knows how to play in a 3-4.

This season may turn out to be another 5-11 year, but better days are just ahead. That's a fact.

  • spot on post, IMO. Disturbing when you see Rams WRs wide-open, pre-snap. It's like calling hot routes on Rookie in Madden. No defensive adjustments the entire game. Bradford just pwnd Haslett in this game, most of it w/ his pre-snap reads

  • One good thing about this game is that the pressure to watch the Skins for the rest of the year is now officially off. I no longer have to rearrange my Sunday schedule to watch the game live, I'll just dvr the rest of the season and fast forward past the bad parts. Last season I fast forwarded through whole games, there were no good parts. It really is the same ****, different year. For all those saying give Shanahan a chance, it takes time, etc, well we have heard that before too. I would love to see him turn it around, but I am not holding my breath. Someone on the radio this morning said it best, hard to believe this was once a proud franchise. The saddest thing for me is that I grew up cheering for the Redskins, and now I worry my sons will never get that chance. Hard to stomach teaching them to root for losers. **** you, Dan Snyder. I am beginning to think the best we can hope for is for Snyder to Irsay this team to LA, and let us start over with an expansion franchise [insert angry emoticon here]

  • Redskins Nation should be fun tonight. I wonder how the minister of propaganda will spin it.

  • Probably about the same way the RedDog58 post did...

  • At least Trent Williams looks elite.

Man, if only bradford wasn't hurt his last year, that Oklahoma team had some nasty talent.

Rams need to continue to stink and draft a top flight WR this year (there are a bunch of them)

    From Twitter:

Shanahan: Portis' right hand was bothering him so he went down on that long run to avoid fumble

interesting; he looked angry on the sideline when he didn't go right back in and the backup picked up 40 whatever yards

That's not spin Malik. It's a fact. You know where the Redskins sit in salaries for next season as of today? $94.8M, and that's if Hanyesworth and Portis are on the team. If they're both gone that number is $76M. The cap last season was $127M. You've got to figure that next season, if there is one, that number would be $133M or higher. They could conceivably have in excess of $50M to play with. Obviously some of that will have to go to McNabb, but they're going to be able to sign anyone they want.

This uncapped season was huge for the Redskins.

Because that's worked out so well for them before.

spending money on free agents will obviously make the skins elite.

Yup. If you look at the needs we had at the end of last season, there was no way we were going to fill most of them in one offseason. I've said it would take years to undo the damage those idiots have done to this roster.

I don't think anyone expects to be elite; I think most Skins fans would be happy with a wild card berth.

I called BS on this. Portis looked angry on the sideline and he was back in the game for carries after William and Torian badly missed some blocks.

    Rams outcoached our "genius" coach.

  • 3rd down % for the skins this year. wow. this isnt helping things

    vs. Dallas 3 for 13
    vs. Houston 2 for 10
at St. Louis 1 for 10

    Total - 6 for 33. 18.2%
