Mich St dagger game SIAP

  • I've watched the last 5 minutes before, then turned it off before the inevitable. It still sucked.

On the Big 10 network right now. - Big Ten's greatest games.

If you're like me & miserable, you'll watch for Vasquez's last game. This is just the Big Ten's way of slowly introducing us to their conference.

That was so emotionally draining. I would never willingly put myself through that again...

  • The only time I have seen any highlights from this game since that day was watching the Colfax video because I knew it was "safe". In fact I have not watched a Michigan State game since, and probably wont at least until Izzo and anyone related to that team is gone. Someone please permaban the OP for reminding me of this. fingergun

idk about you guys, but when i compare this loss to the Ravens loss in NE in the AFC champ game, the MD loss hurts much more.. i've gotten over Lee Evans, but i cant get that fuck Lucious outta my head

When I compare getting kicked in the shin to having my leg chopped off losing my leg hurts much more.

  • I was listening to the game on the radio. I saw the highlight when I got to my hotel, and haven't seen it sense. Wish I had never seen it in the first place

  • I remember I stopped watching late in the game. I left the house briefly and when I returned we were up 83-82 and Mom and Sister had the game on in the downstairs living room. As I walked in I heard mom yelling "No!" and had no idea what was going on. Then I saw to my horror, "Michigan State 85 Maryland 83"

The thing is it wasn't even that good of a game. We were getting killed for most of it, MSU was shooting lights out from beyond the arc. Then Lucas got hurt and we made a great comeback, I guess that stretch of the game would be decent to watch. And then the ending which I never want to see again. It wasn't like one of those epic, back and forth games that could be fun to watch again. It was a blowout that featured the most epic terp tease of all time.

My thoughts exactly. They dominated us, and it would have been one of the greatest steal wins of all time (similar to gone in 54 seconds). Doesn't make it any easier to stomach the finish though ....

  • God damnit! We came back and took the lead! WHY DID THAT POS HAVE TO HIT THAT SHOT

    neal990

  • Shove this game up your ass, OP. Why would we want to watch this? Go seek counseling if you enjoy watching re-runs of your team getting knocked out of the tourney.

    Colfaxs video made me cry

I watched Colfax's video again after I said I wouldn't. I turned it off after GV's last bucket. After watching, I felt the way I thought I would: sad disbelief.

  • Was at the game. Very painful. I sat next to Eric's mom and row behind Greivis' parents. There were about 50 of us that made trip out and we all met the team back at the hotel, there were a lot of tears shed. The saddest aspect was that it was a great senior class's last game. There was almost a group hug in the lobby. I did a shot of Jamison with the coaching staff and flew on a red eye back that night to be at work the next morn. Miserable.

I guarantee I'll never watch that last shot again, unless by some cruel accident or practical joke...

  • I was despondent after that game

as soon as Greivis hit the shot, I saw it was too much time left and said 'We're going to get daggered' then it happened

  • I'll also add to the masses who say this was their greatest sporting defeat ever as a fan. The Skins have been bad for so long that it has been years since I have been emotionally attached. And as far as other Terp losses go, the Final Four loss to Duke angered me more than anything else.
I just loved the passion of GV and the pure class of Hayes and really liked this team. When the shot went in, both my son and I, fell to the floor of our living room and laid there for several minutes. I literally talked to no one at work the next day. It still pains me to this day.

Joe, that was the only time in my life where my mouth fell open -- and stayed open...

  • I was pretty close to shedding a tear as I sat there in silence

in the back of my mind I just said 'this feels like a bad movie' with how the game was playing out...then I saw it was like 4 seconds left and said to the person I was watching the game with 'We're going to get daggered'

it just felt so scripted for us to lose that game...it's where I realized 'good things don't happen for us'

for a few weeks after that I gave up sports because that game felt so scripted

Oh, so this was the game that turned you into what you are today? That shot was even worse than I thought...

  • While it wasn't quite as bad as this game, I also recalled MSU beating the Terps by a bucket in the 2003 tournament. Steve and Drew going out like GV and Eric. Very sad. We owe those bastards big time.

  • Was the Duke/Michigan State/Butler/West Virginia the worst final 4 of all time as far as rooting goes? Like who the hell are you rooting for out of that group?

I didn't even realize it at the time. I was too depressed to care. I think I rooted for WVU to beat Duke...what was wrong with me?!

That was actually a no-brainer for me. I root for Duke to lose, no matter who they play. WVa isn't much better. MSU deserves punishment for the (TWO) times they've nosed us out at the end. And I like to root for the underdog in general. I wanted Butler, no question.

    Nocalterp

  • the Mich St. wasn't the worse loss, 2001 F4 to Duke was by far worse

I was completely the opposite. I KNEW that when GV put on his superhero routine that we were absolutely going to win. There are just times when a player wills a victory (see Bias, Gilchrist) and this was one of those times, we had seen it before. When the dagger went in, I jumped up and ran around the room saying NO NO NO NO NO.........because that was not supposed to happen.
