MARYLAND vs. Hopkins

Landed late from Heathrow and got the news of victory over the Blue Jays while standing in line at immigration. Congrats MLx!!!!! Almost had my iPhone taken away! by the immigration police.

When is the last time we beat Hopkins two times in one year?

Congrats for getting through UK security. I HATE Heathrow. It is without a doubt, the most f''d up major airport in the world - pick your reason. Tel Aviv is simpler than Heathrow (although personal security is definitely tougher). When BA built terminal five, I thought that would help a lot - no - only longer walks. It is almost as if they had a team together to figure out how to make the whole airport as horrible/undesirable/difficult as possible. I would put them up for first place against any other airport in the world for least friendly and passenger difficult. Changing planes and terminals? Put a huge fudge factor into your connections.
On a happier note: great that you were able to get the Terps' win news. Gotta keep it up for the FF.

    And yet again.....DC >>>> Baltimore.

    The more things change......cool

You'll start another argument saying MD is more DC.

  • Lacrosse noob here, watched a good chunk of this game today. How often is the player of the game from Orlando?

Also, Murray, the freshman from Pennsylvania, seemed to give JHU a lot of trouble. Reminded me vaguely of a holding midfielder in soccer just destroying people.

Conference realignment, SoCon style: some actual news (Mercer, ETSU, and VMI?) and a little speculation http://wp.me/plDgR-1jv

Actually , it was immigration in Philly. Had to deal with Heathrow last Sunday and it was not fun. I agree with your opinion on Heathrow, it is bad and I just can't imagine what it would be like there when the Olympics start. Fortunately I go back to the UK before they start.

  • If Amato is back to last year's form, as he was today, we are unbeatable!

Yeah, that's what I was telling my kids...that every time we beat them in the regular season, they beat us in the playoffs. The most painful for me is still '87 (my senior year). We dominated the whole season, including a relatively easy win over JHU, and then they up and beat us in the FF...ugh

Planning on going next week - eventually we are going to win one of these - and I want to be there!!!

Wasn't this a good class this yr? So he has back to back top 3 classes?

Pretty amazing to lose 22 and go back to ff

This year's class was rated #1.It's pretty impressive to read the bios of the players who are not even getting in the games.

This is not your fathers lacrosse, the sport has really expanded. Drew Snider is actually from Seattle Wash. The Terps do have a couple of players from Florida. The player from Colgate that destroyed us a couple of weeks ago was from Portland Ore. Long Island and Maryland are still the hot beds of lacrosse however the best prep teams in Baltimore the last couple of years have been beaten by Philly schools.
Goren Murray was ACC FOY which is highly unusual for a defensive player.

The class from the year before was rated #3. It's strange that the top rated player in that class (Ikeda) has been injured and contributed nothing, so far. In this year's class, the three most highly ranked players have not done much (Solomon, Gribbin, Forster). Lower ranked freshmen players have made the more significant contributions this year. Murray, LoCascio, Carlson, and Raffa have all done well, with Murray being really impressive. Next year's class is not going to be all that special. We recently lost a couple of guys from that class. I think that they looked at a lack of playing time and decided to go elsewhere, which is not necessarily a bad thing. It's just one of those things that will hurt our recruiting ranking for next year's class. The class of high school juniors looks to be the most impressive that I can ever remember. We have three top ten recruits, including the number one recruit in the country. Looking out even further, we have 2 of the top 20 sophomore commitments. I'm not sure how excited to get about that. A lot of things can change in the next few years. Overall, it seems like the future is very bright. The only school that really seems to be recruiting better than us is North Carolina. Hopefully, that will change soon given that Carolina does not win in the NCAA tourney and we are heading to our 2nd straight final four. It's great to know that half of our starters are sophomores and/or freshmen (I'm including Chanenchuk as a sophomore based on what I have read) and that this was supposed to be a rebuilding year.

Yep. Never did I think, when Urso graduated in 1976 with two titles, that I'd be sitting here today not having celebrated another since then....

That makes two of us. We just don't seem to be able to build off of success. Maybe Tillman will be different and I hope he is because with so many schools now playing lacrosse across the entire country now, it's only going to get tougher.

I actually think it will get easier for the Terps. Now there's a lot more good players to choose from after all the local private school kids named Steele, Wells, Snootie and Hootie choose UVA, Duke and Hopkins.

About as frequently as the Terps getting back to back goals from players from Washington. That would be the state, not the thing inside 495.

No way that was a legal hit, correct? The UVA dude was headhunting and should be suspended
