Josh selby news $$$$

  • i was working out kids at the ymca in west bmore when a group of aau coaches were discussing kids on the take that they know about.
    One coach privy to the josh Selby recruitment said Tennessee gave Josh's mom $50,000 . Catch 22, she kept the money then took $100,000 from Kansas. How can you tell on Bill self without getting yourself in trouble.

    Tennessee being pissed like the jilted bride sent word to Self that they know how they got him. self not wanting to ruin his yr politely put selby on the shelf for most of the yr.

    A kansas coach who likes selby told him coach is going to shelve him again next yr. Selby enters draft.

    All this makes me wonder about tobias Harris' situation (recruitment)

    I was waiting for one of these guys to tell on themselves but it never happened.

    Selby was a hot item coming out i went to a couple games and he was a man out there.
    when your on top and your not in a major location , it doesnt mean squat that you have multiple Natty's if your in the college town equivalent of mayberry. you gotta pay to play in most cases like that.

    true! but why is he terrible if they are offereing the money.its not like they have a spotless resume. Chalmers situation?

    I cant give them a pass on not having to take a terrible kid like this. His mom is the one who pulls the strings not the aau coach in that situation. He received monies before his kansas days. went to lake clifton game and mom dukes pulls up in NICE ALL WHITE ROVER! Not saying anything but implying "MUCHO"

    I hear you , all I was doing was filling in everyone on what few TOP aau guy with players working out where i was. They brought me in for my outsider opinion because they knew i coached football.

    they did say it was more the local drug dealer or thug who gives a large donation to the programs than d1 schools knocking at their door.

  • Theres something that doesnt make sense here. Why would you pay 100k if thats really how much it was for a player, and then not play him? Unless you are paying ALL of your players, it doesn't make sense to pay for 1 kid who won't play. And I know Pearl is a snitch, but whats it look like when he turns snitch again with no evidence?

    Plus Kansas could've used Selby no doubt.

    i think Self held it against him that he took the money and didnt let them know his mom received it. Playing both ends. If you(Kansas) pay him then nobody knows(no hard evidence). if they(mom) took money from another school then it could be questioned by that school.

    kansas could get in deep trouble if somebody blows the whistle. ie tennessee turning themselves in to get out of the bruce pearl situation.

    that's what I'd do...and odds are if I got blue bloods willing to pay me, I can risk getting declared ineligible and just enter the draft the next year

    yeah, this would be the obvious thing to do. but the money is coming with strings attached. if you're down in the mud committing these offenses and get burned, you're probably not above making theats.

    Never really heard about the Kansas situation...but I'm surprised the Tennessee situation is just coming to this board. Pearl gave his mother actually more than that. Closer to about 75 stacks. Everybody in the city knew about that. Since it was such a horribly kept secret, I never imagined that he would play college ball. And I always wondered what happened after he decommitted from Tennessee. I haven't talked to or played ball with Josh since probably right before he committed to Kansas though.

    Josh's mom has been bucking to make money off of him since he became hot on the 14u aau days.People think that its hard to imagine that certain schools have to pay such players. A great portion of the time its the schools that start the conversation about setting the parents up with things or money.Lets remember where ole Roy Williams comes from (Kansas).blue bloods have a certain image to uphold and they pay to do that.
