Greetings Terps

  • Hi guys, wanted to stop by and say welcome to the B1G next year. Glad to have you aboard.

What has been the general feel from you guys on the move? How do you guys think you fit in with the other teams in the B1G?

We are both atheists. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours

  • happy about the move; hope uva and especially duke don't follow us

  • Thanks. I'd say most ppl on this board were happy with the move. Having said that, some in TerpNation were not initially okay with it. Some have now accepted and others are still bitter. Personally, I am trilled!

As for you guys, I think you all will be Shell Shocked! Lol

    Go Nats!

I doubt that Duke gets an invite, even with the B1G trying to get UNC. I do think that UVA will be in though and is just waiting to see what happens with your court case before they make a move. I could really see us picking up GT and UVA.

I think you guys got a good one from us in Taivon Jacobs. He was way under rated nationally.

Shell Shocked in what way? Offense, defense, culture?

I certainly think it was a great move all around. The talk on our boards is that the BigTen network is nudging the B1G to take BC too so that they can capture both the New York and Boston tv foot prints. That would give the B1G the Chicago, New York, Boston, and DC markets. That is insane money. The BTN also owns the YES (Yankees) network and are pushing for the NESN (New England Sports Network). They can then package the BTN with those channels and force the cable companies to pay premium. Then you add the DC market and it all leads to more money for each University.

The research money completely dwarfs the sports money.

You guys also seem to be recruiting pretty good too. 6th in the B1G this year.

Elated about the move. Wish we could leave after this basketball season is over.

yeah... I was very upset about missing on Diggs last year. He is a great get. Glad he went to another B1G school though.

  • Would Maryland fans be alright if the Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament was held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn for a period of 3-4 years?

The reason I ask is, I'm going to assume the Big Ten is going to go heavy on trying to brand in NYC after the moves (to 16 or 18 schools).

And the Big Ten isn't opening a New York or Washington office for just 2-3 East Coast schools (so more are coming).

    OSU43081

  • Yes. Barclays is awesome...tons to do in NYC. Annual trips to greensboro to eat fast food and stay in a motel gets stupid

Uh. Yeah. I'm sure we wouldn't complain.

Why wouldn't we? We're used to getting fucked by the location of the conference tournament. At least there's something to do in NY.

LOL @ BC capturing the Boston market. That's what they told us 10 years ago (wow, has it been that long?). If you want BC because of its rabid fan base, legacy of championships, and heated rivalries, that's one thing. But they do not give you the Boston market. Good luck trying to get Boston cable operators to pony up the I've-got-a-school-in-your-conference's-footprint bucks for the BTN.

Oh, I live in Rhode Island so I understand that no one up here gives a crap about college football. But, if Fox can get NESN and wrap the BTN up with it in the geographical footprint of the B1G, then they can still make people buy the BTN.

  • I've heard a Clemson fan describe the way they treat opposing teams fans on their campus as the same way you'd treat a guest in your home. Do you guys share this mentality?

The only problem I ever heard for maybe 10-12 years was at Penn State (for opposing fans).

The only other problem may be a rival fan wearing apparel for the rival school and maybe hearing some curse words.

For basketball, there should be zero issues.

Maryland will be paired with Rutgers, Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan and the ACC schools anyways, so ya'll probably already been to majority of the stadiums/arenas.

What rabid fan base? Is there a worse traveling fanbase for football amongst BCS schools?
