Gotta admit, I am surprised at those numbers. But I got no problem with Stogs taking wild (read bad) shots. I mean when his options are Michael Parker, P or Nick Faust on the wing hell I'd throw up an off balance 20 footer too. Gotta better shot of going in than Faust shooting an uncontested 15 footer.

Most guards are going to have shooting %'s less than than the rest of the team because they are taking a lot of 3pters whereas the rest of the team is going to include big men who only shoot in the paint and are going to be shooting 50%. Stoglin has attempted almost half of the team's 3pters.
Stoglin is shooting 38.4% from 3pt. ROT is shooting 28.2% from 3pt.
Stoglin is shooting 45.3% from 2pt. ROT is shooting 48.2% from 2pt.
I don't feel like going through and doing "adjusted FG%" to account for all the 3pt attempts he's taking, but the notion that he is hurting the team because of his FG% is absurd.

First off I'm not cracking on Stoglin. He is by far our best player. I think he sometimes tries to hard and takes boneheaded shots. I guess Turgeon must also have an agenda against him since he's benched him more than once for taking dumb ass shots.
Regardless, your point b has to be one of the dumbest posts ever written. If it's harder to shoot a better percentage when you're taking more shots then maybe he shouldn't be taking more shots. I can't believe you're that stupid.

By the way. There's a simple reason why most didn't hate Seth Greenburg at first and hate him now. The fact is that freakin' football school has beaten us 6 out of the last 8 times we played before this year. They swept us last year. It's embarrassing as hell to have a football school beat us in OUR sport. If we had been beating VT, no one would even give Greenburg a second thought. Losing breeds contempt.

Since plenty of people tackled your 2nd sentence, let me go back to the first. In essence, by saying he plays for both teams, Greenberg is saying that Stoglin increases the chances of a Virginia Tech win, and your analysis is that this is "spot on". Do you actually believe this? He may take some ill-advised shots, but who on this team is not getting enough shots and would benefit from more opportunities? Now, that is a fairly low standard, and I can't even come up with one person I think should be shooting more. Even if there is, you then have to argue this players increased role would be more likely to increase our offensive performance than with Stoglin taking those shots. I can't think of anyone remotely deserving of this claim. Then, you have to make a third leap, into saying that the difference between this person and Stoglin's shots is so great, it actually benefits the opposing team. Are you serious? Have you watched this team at all? I have no idea how you can possibly agree that Stoglin's performance this year, as the leading scorer in the ACC, is beneficial to the teams in conference not named Maryland. This is incredibly stupid for one of our own fans to make this argument. Sorry, it just is

I got the shotgun. You got the briefcase. It's all in the game though, right?

Maryland is lacking in talent. Everyone agrees. The way for a less talented team to win is to do what the Big Ten does. Take the air out of the ball. That means passing the ball around until you have an absolute wide open shot, preferably inside 18 feet. It means reducing the number of possessions in the game by waiting until you're well inside 10 seconds on the shot clock. It does not mean come down and firing up a contest shot with 25 seconds left on the clock. For god sakes he missed 17 out of 26 shots against Miami and some were absolute horrible. He shot 34% and the rest of the team shot over 44%. Unless you think Miami beat us with better play (which they didn't), then he lost the game.
