Faust

You are mixing up his Senior and Junior years. In his Jr. year he shot 46/30/90. For his career he was 46/33/85. So yeah I think that's doable. Not this year for Faust, but in time.

33% from the old 3pt line is pretty mediocre.

    You're correct. My bad!

Also for you morons, he dont know anything about hooping, there was a point in the second half where he pulled up on afast break and hit like an 18 footer from the top of the key then the next possession he came off a screen, yanked the hell out of his man and hit a fade-away. When was the last time we had somebody have that skillset at Maryland at his size? I'll wait for you retards to answer...Now that I think about it Faust is a very raw Joe Johnson...Once he gets in the weight room, and works on his footwork a little in the offseason hes going to be giving people all types of the business with his midrange jumpshot.

I'm glad to hear this. I was flipping between the Terps and Caps and must have missed this sequence. I love this kid's future but haven't seen anything close to what you described yet.

Nobody is overreating by the way. We didn't expect him to light it up like Jason Kidd right out of the gate. But he was a solid 4 star so it's not out of the question that some of us are surpised that he is struggling so badly with his shot. But I firmly believe that will come soon. He just needs to hit a few early to gain confidence.

  • people are overanalyzing everything. The game is still fast to him, it's obvious in his passes and his shooting. He's even rushing at the free throw line. The leap from high school to college is enormous, especially having two of your first five games against major conference teams.

Like the rest of the team, his shooting will improve as the season progresses. He's getting good looks, he needs to compose himself and settle down and he'll be fine.

Pretty sure this has been the opinion of like 90% of the posts in this thread.

  • I love Nick and think he has a ton of potential. I worry though that his shooting form will never translate into a consistent, or high percentage shooter.

His game is reminding me a bit of Laron Profit.

  • Oh, Faust could easily be as good as Chris McCray. I don't think that's even a question.

  • Nick is gonna be fine. I think that when he was put at the PG spot, it made his head swim.

Running the offense, finding open man, all while trying to get his shot off, too. He has excellent handle. He needed to focus on the wing position and just solely focus on becoming a big scorer, but it is hard to do while being a PG. I think he is just doing what Turge wants him to do. It reminds me a little of the year when DJ was at PG. In fact, his game is somewhat reminiscent of DJ's. Faust has much better handling tho.

When you see Peshon come back, I think you will see more of this kid"s true game : working off screens, curls, slashing to the hoop and off the dribble. He is also very streaky as a shooter. He is bound to hit 3 or 4 threes in a game very soon. I'm not too worried, this is a good experience for him.

  • seems like the coach might have a good idea about Faust's potential:

“Nick needs to get his swagger back and all that kind of stuff,” Turgeon said. “He’s air-balling shots, and he’s thinking about it. Nick needs to get to the foul line, he needs to get to the rim. He’s a young kid, and unfortunately it’s hard for him to run a team right now. When Terrell won’t get us into [the offense], I have to go with Nick.”

The last sentence ties into the Terrell thread -- I hope they get it worked out, because if he get's close to Dixon in points and has a decent NCAA run or two Stoglin could wind up in the rafters...

I for one want to see everyone on the team succeed to their highest potential -- looking at you Sugar Sean...

  • Please stop the comparison because most are highly inaccurate and don't fit the player. How about everybody just be patient and at least give him a chance to develop. Even if he was playing his natural position rarely do freshman start off killing. Harrison Barnes struggled at the start of last season, the Arizona guards are struggling right now, Quinn Cook barely gets on the court w no real PG in front of him etc....give him time

Was just thinking the same thing...and to some extent, he still is.

  • Faust will be better than McCray. They're just asking an awful lot of him. Put him on a good team and he shines in limited minutes.

Harrison Barnes is an odd player. He looks so unstoppable at times, then other times it's like wtf. Has all the hallmarks of a future volume scorer in the NBA, which means he's sure to be a Wizard.

  • I'm afraid that when PH comes in to run the point we'll see very little of Faust. There's no way Coach gives Mosley's minutes to Nick. He loves Mosley and he's not big enough to play the 4 against most teams. Even less chance SM gets minutes at the 4 when Len becomes available. We need Pankey and Padge to defend the paint and rebound.

  • No well see much less Parker and no walkons.

Um what? He'll be the first guard off the bench. He'll get plenty of minutes.

This post cracks me up. The last thing any scholarship player needs to worry about this year is whether they're going to get on the floor.

  • I keep watching him and thinking DeAndre Liggins. Defensive stopper, same size, same offensive limitations right now.
