Do you think Temple joins the ACC?

So much talk about Rutgers and UConn.
I think Temple could be a darkhorse. And I'd be shocked if they hadn't already submitted application materials.
PROS for Temple:
1) Philadelphia market
2) Academically they are a top-notch institution with plenty of nationally-ranked undergrad and graduate progrrams.
3) A historically significant basketball program with an above-average on campus facility in the Liacouras Center.
4) A football program on the rise again.
5) A cross-state rivalry with Pitt
CONS for Temple:
1) They're not as big a university as Rutgers.
2) Their football program has been poo-poo for a lot of recent history and is constantly on the brink of falling back there. And their basketball program is not good enough to balance it out.
3) They don't have a huge alumni base (aside from Bill Cosby) and likely wouldn't travel well to any bowl games or conference tourneys.
4) It's a pretty damn big leap from the A-10 (basketball) and MAC (football) to the ACC. That being said, F$U made the leap from the Capital Conference in 1991. But they were already a football powerhouse.
I'd take Temple over Rutgers any day as Team 16.

They got thrown out of the Big East in football they were so bad. 0.0% chance they step up from MACtion to the ACC.

I thought this was a parody thread.
I don't think #132 on the USNews list qualifies as "top notch".
If you look at Temple's schedule over the past few seasons I think you might also take back your comment about them being on the rise. It's one thing to compete in the MAC, competing in the ACC is completely different.

no, and they won't be invited, but I have to say I'd rather have them than Wake, i wish we could trade with the MAC. Temple brings so much more to the table than Wake, but that's not saying much. I'd also take ECU over Wake as well. In a few years Richmond will be more attractive than Wake.

Wake Forest is a complete joke in our new powerhouse ACC.... they are basically our conference's Northwestern...

Can't see it, but given that the Big East threw them out it would be lolworthy if they were allowed in over Big East teams...

I think the sleeper is USF. Top 20 football, big school 35,000 and it gets another part of Florida.

I don't think anyone views the Tampa market as a major market per se. The ACC already has their footprint in Florida, they don't care about specific cities.

Wake Forest is great academcially and can be solid in basketball. They are generally one of the bottom teams of the ACC in football, but have a pretty good coach right now.

don't go to 16 teams unless you can get a big time school like ND or Texas (or a defector from the Big 10 or SEC), don't just add 2 teams just becasue you can

UMASS will be in FBS soon, will join the MAC.
Temple should gradually move up to C-USA or whatever conference the BOD big east schools end up in.

USF couldn’t hack it academically in the SEC, which makes me have no idea why Notre Dame scheduled them for a game to kickoff this year..

Yeah, I feel like Temple really doesn't bring anything that Cuse and Pitt don't bring other than the Philly TV market. They have a basketball history, yes, but have been up and down as of late and their football team isn't great either.
