There have been other coaches who have worked without a signed contract. Billy Gillespie at UK is a notable example.

Knowing Anderson, they signed his contract last week and now owe him for 3 years.

So do we bother finding a replacement, or do we just let the QB call the plays next year and save the money for a Rangoon buyout?

Gotta question the value of Locks at this point...his image is tarnished and he may not overcome Edsall. I also agree that Crowton was not one of the top problems. Sometimes the offense worked. the real problem was Edsall shaking down the players where you could never get any consistency from any of them.

Wait, this stuff on Locks is a joke right? Anderson and Rangoon, the beacons of moral behavior and discipline, would seriously consider bringing in a guy who punched an assistant and was sued for sexual harassment? That said, he does seem to fit their criteria of being an awful football coach.

Edsall is actually a good recruiter, he works hard on the trail and parents like him for the most part. Locks got kids from DC to go to NEW MEXICO to play for him he can get kids to come down the road.

1st year is always the worst for the disciplinarian coaches. They usually go harder than the norm to set the standard then back off after the players straighten up a bit. Not saying this is the case in this situation but if you look at similar coaches this is the normal track record.

This would be good news if Rangoon wasn't still our HC.

I fully expect Crowton to be wildly successful as OC at Washington State.

yeah, it's not like Rangoon walked into the 1980's SMU program. the whole disciplinarian role is all smoke and mirrors.
