I hate edsall with a passion, but I like CJ Brown. I went to the game against clemson and it was probably the best all around performance by a QB I've ever seen in person. He willed his way that game with his running and passing.

On that note, our o line is horrible and he will be running for his life every game. We saw how that went last season when defenses caught up to him. He almost died. No way he plays every game. Loser backups. We stink. Edsall canned. Nightmare over.

The o line doesn't suck. The offensive cord last year sucked. He played quick tempo like 86% of the time. He never killed the clock.
This year we have Locksley who will milk the clock. When we get a lead.

ok ok ok i know i am over doing it. but what if Brown really makes a huge jump this season? He has the raw talent to be the best Qb in the ACC. I totaly believe in the guy. I read his tweets. and he;s a great leader. gets the wideouts and rbs out for 7 on 7 and work outs alot. added 15 pounds in the off season. I am 100%sure Brown is going to brown all over the ACC this year.

I like Brown but his throwing is below average so we should withhold some of the praise until he gets his mechanics improved. Hopefully we'll see improvements in timing and confidence where he's not throwing at shoe laces anymore.

  • You have to take the bitter with the sweet. We return a lot of players, BUT they were all part of 2-10. It still comes down to everyone in that locker room pulling together and accepting the "bit" that is attached to the reins and like it or not Edsall holds the reins.

The greatest cause for optimism to me is the hiring of new co-ordinators in all three phases of the game, and that the players who are still in the Program actually want to be Terps. In all the years I have followed the Terps, particularly in the Fridge Era, we NEVER had the best talent to match up with the best Programs in the ACC, but we sometimes whipped them.

So, C.J. may not be the second coming, but he is a competitive kid who is now experienced. Tom Brattan has a lot of talent to work with on the offensive line. Veterans like Gilbert and Fulper can provide leadership, and both have overcome injuries, and we can get better on the line and not just be bad because we were bad last year. The Defense has to play a lot better than they did a year ago. Special teams too. But until we lose a game, I'm looking forward and not backwards. Go Terps. rockonpeaceterps

  • Here's a link to an interview that Patrick Stevens gave to a Clemson site or newspaper that says a lot of the things that I was trying to say, but he said them better. So enjoy it. I see a lot of truth and reality in what Patrick said. http://www.orangeandwhite.com/news/2012/jul/16/ask-opposing-beat-writer-maryland/?partner=RSS

  • I'm looking forward to the season (as always) - hoping that some pieces fall into place and that Edsall doesn't do any more damage than he's already done.

I didn't follow the spring closely, and didn't see it posted here - have we heard where they plan on playing Tate this year??

Tate will play Strong side Linebacker. he is trying to get bigger and stronger to be able to take on blockers. He will do fine , he is a smart, great athlete. i pray and wish we win 9 games. we need to get better fast. i cant handle the losing we gonna take a shit on the acc
we gona beat west va, and fsu
we gonna win 9 games play va tech in the acc title game and beat them, go to the orange bowl.

  • Is anyone else ever-so-slightly (and sadly) pumped that we're apparently somewhere in the top 70 according to Patrick Stevens? I mean, we ended last year 104th in Sagarin. Improvement!

I was with you until the BC win. They have owned us for the most part like we have NC State. I think we stand a better chance of beating UNC than BC IMHO.

I suppose you are probably right, although BC has been going downhill recently, so I'm hoping that translates to a W for the Terps. Unless something significantly changes, I don't see BC's coach making it through the season in Boston.

I also think there's a chance vs. UNC, and that would be a great way to end the season, winning in Chapel Hill.

  • I suspect BC's coach will be on the hotseat as well. However, I wonder how Clemson fans will greet their coach with that debacle in the Orange bowl being the last game.

Clemson hired a big shot defensive cord. If their defense doesn't improve. Their will be hell to pay in Clemson. 70-30 is crazy.

  • Players seems to be one with the coaches right now,. Edsall has changed his mean ways it sounds, Kevin Dorsey and Joe Vellano say the team is very pumped and hungry for the season to start.

I feel the team is going to be very ready physically. I am just hoping that mentally football school 101 wise their going to be ready too. Classroom football.
August when training camp starts , that's when the real football classroom to the field is going to start. i am pumped for the season. I am going to get my tickets to the games this year. And cheer my tail off for the Terps. I advice everyone to buy your tickets too, because i see a great comeback.

    Biggest surprise: The Maryland defense.
Shhh. The Terps are quietly harboring one of the better-kept secrets of the ACC as the 2012 season quickly approaches. Although it’ll get somewhat lost in the haze of being in College Park, this unit could wind up being the next best thing to Florida State and Virginia Tech in the conference. New coordinator Brian Stewart, who’s installing a 3-4 alignment, inherits all-star contenders at each level. The nucleus is exciting, particularly in the front seven. DE Joe Vellano is a sparkplug-type player, and one of the nation’s most underappreciated players. Kenny Tate, Demetrius Hartsfield, Darin Drakeford and L.A Goree will give Maryland one of the sneaky-good linebacker corps in the ACC. And the secondary has just a single starter to replace, and a couple of knockout punchers at safety.

  • I just went to look up ticket prices , you know buying tickets from UMD Ticket office, vs buying tickets online somewhere else. and its CHEAPER to buy the tickets from the school UMD ticket office online. So that's what i am going to do this year.

    TerpsSoccer

  • You know TerpSoccer, you should have titled this thread "countdown to Fall camp" and then when we got to camp, we could have gotten all cranked up in a brand new thread to countdown to the opener. Just a thought for next year. Carry on.

  • My top 10 Underrated Terps

    1. Makinton Dorleant- When he is healthy i think he can be a shut down cornerback, think McDougle with more speed and athleticism. ( 5'11 180 sub 4.4 speed) He can also return punts and kicks.

    2. LA. Goree- I know he started some games last year and people know some about him, But i really feel he hasn't even reached 30% of his potential yet. The guy is big 6'3 235, fast 4.6/40/. has a nose for the football. he is like a younger Hartfield.

3.DeOnte Arnett - Super athletic , 6'4 295 4.9/40, For a Guard those are very good computer numbers. He started 2 games last year i think. He did very well. I see him starting at left guard and been an ALL ACC player for us.

4.Alex Twine - What else can i say about this guy, i love his hitting ability. he inst the bigger Lb in the world ( just 6'0 225) but he is quick have great instincts. and will knock you into next week.

    5. Tyler Cierski -FB - Super strong, super athletic. he could legit be a starting Running back, 6'0 255 4.6 speed. He could open up huge running lanes for Wes Brown , Ross, and Pickett. Benched something like 600 pounds i think in a video i watched on youtube MANBEAST.

6.Tyrek Cheeseboro- Right now he has only played on the special teams side of the ball, but He has great hands (from watching his high school high light tape,) sub 4.5 speed. Tuff as nails. I like his potential.

7.A.J. Hendy- Moved to Corner from safety. 6'1 205 sub 4.4 speed. Great ball skills and can cover bigger , stronger wide outs or the small quicker wide outs. I look for him to start at #2 corner spot, or be the nickle cb.

8.Levern Jacobs- I watched him at the spring game, he is so difficult to tackle,he is very quick , has great hands. Catches everything thrown to him. Like his baby brother he has game breaking speed. sub 4.4 guy.

9.Jake Wheeler- Left tackle, At 6'7 300 sub 4.9 speed. He has the prototype NFL Left tackle size and super athletic. So he just need to put it all together. No one better to teach him and coach him up , than Coach Brattan.I look for him to take the starting left tackle job by game 6. and he a lock down Left tackle.

10.Devonte Campbell-H-Back/TE - He has the skills to be a #1 TE at the college level., Blessed with Power,Size and speed ( 6'2 255 sub 4.5 speed benches like 500 pounds) I believe this season Campbell is going to break out of his shell (pun intended) and be a top receiver threat for CJ.

Yeah welcome, i figured i would make a list of young players people didnt know about. But i feel are very talented and could start this year, or give us great depth. If we can get The Oline to gel. And have Rowe step up as a true freshmen to be CJ;s back up. WOw wecould be going bowling. The Talent is there we just need to stay HEALTHY.
