How about a Junior Stefon Diggs actually having a shot at the Heisman because his games are TELEVISED.
Game Set Match.
We have crappy referees also so dont get your hopes up.
Big 10 always wanted ND. Since the ACC hooked ND, it makes sense that the Big10 would go after the northern outpost of the original ACC.
I'd like to stay in the ACC, but what I actually want is THE OLD ACC of my childhood, the home-home, 16 game, 9 team conference.
Since that is long gone and mega-conferences are upon us, I don't think it makes a big difference. Wisconsin, Iowa, and Northwestern won't feel any more foreign than VT and Miami do.
Point 1, 2, or 3??
I think it's kind of unrespectful- Ovie
No more ESPN3 in the B10. All game nationally televised plus our non-revenues will get more TV exposure.
The big 10 passed the ACC in basketball a few years ago and is by far a better football conference. I know I'm in the minority but I think this is good.
im sorry i was confusing...your "Superbowl" was the Redskins losing since you know that the Ravens cant win it all.
Bingo. The days of Ralph Sampson and MJ and Lefty driving around with the acc trophy on his hood aren't coming back. Things change, we shouldn't be afraid to change as well.
I don't know if the Big 10 is going to work out, but what we've got now ain't so hot.
Totally agree........horrible move if it happens.
Its bittersweet, but time to go. The ACC we loved hasn't been there since Miami, BC and VT joined. It's only going to deteriorate from here.
Time to take the $$ now while we need it most, while we stink at football no matter what league, while the offer of growth and stability is there, and while we have the football-sized basketball players to beat the crap out of those corn-toothed bastards at their own game.
Mainly the third.
You are completely underestimating the TV revenues. The ACC just signed a deal for 17m AAV over the next 15 years. The B10 received 24M last year from their deal an will sign a new deal in 2017. Plus they will up their subscriber fees in MD and NJ if those two schools join which would increase their revenues further. Plus the B10 gets more money from the bowls and for their conference title game.
LOL again at PSU joining the ACC.
I don't think it's a coincidence this has happened over the past few years. B10 schools have more money to spend on better facilities and better coaching staffs.
Wrong - look at the current top 25. More Big 10 schools than ACC schools. And since 2001 final four (yeah I gave it the Maryland bias) even on number of teams. People discounting the Big 10 as a basketball conference are living in the past.
I can't give you money incentive, but closer travel, rivalry with Pitt, and better fit could draw them in to the ACC.
Not saying it is likely, just throwing a scenario out there where a benefit of joining the BIG 10 goes away. I admit to being biased, I grew up on new ACC, so maybe I'm looking to poke holes in a move. But I just don't like it for many reasons
If randy edsall was 17 and 6 at md and sellin out Byrd....would this move happen?
I would hope so. This move is more than just short term to help our debt. This is about staying relevant in football as the ACC burns. If we were 17-6 it makes MORE sense to join.
If PSU wanted to join the ACC they would be in it by now. MD leaving only makes the ACC weaker and FSU will be leaving shortly.
0% pennstate or any big ten school leaves because $$ drives all this conference poaching and why Maryland would leave. Big Ten makes most $$ out the conferences.
I guess if we leave, i wonder where Fl State and Clemson will leave for
yuck yuck. ..I was looking forward to being the basketball powerhouse conference. Turgeon cant be happy.
I saw it on another board and I like the idea. Rutgers should just change their name to the University of New Jersey and that right there would help.
Screw football..Maryland will never be a football power....This move would be horrible for MD basketball.
Well the B10 had been the best conference for a few years now so you still have something to look forward to.
What percentages do you guys think this will happen. 50/50?
