That's what comes up when B1G autocorrect kicks in...
Maryland has always been UMD to my generation. I like it better too
We are joining the conference who's logo is B1G. UM3 just seems more appropriate than UMd or UMD.
UMD. Always. Only state to have D as its last letter (Except Rhode Island. Which doesn't count for anything).
I had a hard time adjusting to UMD after Miami showed up in the ACC, but now I like it better. Who else could it be? And that's a good thing...
Michigan = UM
Miami = The U
Maryland = UMD
Minnesota = UMINN
Virginia Tech = VT
Georgia Tech = Tech
Vermont = UVM
This is how it is. It's not complicated.
This is indeed a ridiculous thread. If you are worried about what initials we go by - you have too much time on your hands.
Years ago, Raycom used 'MARY' in the scoreboard they showed on the screen during games.
University of Minnesota Duluth is not happy.
as is Univ of MIchigan Dearborn,
Just go with "UMAR" from now on and be done with it.
Officially it is: State of "Rhode Island and Providence Plantations" so it really ends in an S.
Actually for football I would accept the temporary reassignment of Maryland's initials to ACL-U but only in 2012 please (okay, add the Chris Kelley years too).
The law school would love it also.
Pretty much this
