lol shaq says no
We have 5 YWGs on the floor
Wrap up the W. Morehead played LIU pretty well @ Barclays. Glad Terps put them away here.
good win, fun game to be at even though the was less than 10,000. c'mon people start going.
this team is just going to be really, really, really good.
turgeon is so awesome.
i know Pe' had 7 assists, but Allen runs the offense better and is quicker on defense (not saying he's the better defender, but that he's quicker). layman is going to be special. shaq had a really good game. mitchell just has a knack for rebounds. this frosh class just continues to impress (would've been interesting if cassell was eligible).
wells dunk, holy hell can the boy jump out of the gym. i mean i've seen him on tape and have heard from friends that have seen him live, but he went up and got that ball for the alley oop slam.
i'm glad by the time shaq/mitchell are accustomed to NCAA by the end of the year, that we will still have Len (his last year ... and yeah why not Padge too). so much balance in this team.
Everybody speaks about this being Len's last year like it's a foregone conclusion. Is there not any chance he'd come back, especially with the team's potential next year?
not to be a negative nancy, but it's going to take more than a close loss in the season opener to get comcast filled up in november/december for the turd ooc slate. these games haven't drawn in a looooong time at maryland.
i wish we'd just sit pe. for gods sake its been two games and im not even close to an expert at basketball and i can see hes not a big time conference starting pg
i dont see len coming back. not a forgone conclusion, but i feel like hes gonna have a great year, and i cant see him coming back
No comments yet about the MHSU coach losing his freaking mind on that timeout shortly after his team's Thug-Life-To-Open-The-Second-Half strategery fell apart?
There's crappy fan support in OOC November games, and then there's last night. According to Stevens, that was the smallest crowd in Comcast Center history for a game included in the season ticket package, third-smallest regular season crowd, and fifth-smallest overall crowd.
eamhokie94: Is your name Nazi in pig Latin?
Yeah that attendance last night was a downright embarrasment. I was excited to get out there and see them live for the first time, as I was out of town for the IUP game. This is the most excited I have been going into a season in a long time....I hope others feel the same and start coming out.
We still have a lot of fair weather fans among the alum season ticket holders. Many only come to a game or two prior to the ACC games. Of course, these are the same people that leave at the 4 minute mark in a tie game to beat the traffic. They are what they are.
Weekday crowds never draw well in Nov.-Dec. except for the ACC-Big 10 challenge. I expect small crowds until the ACC season opens. On the weekends there should be better crowds starting Friday night.
I wasn't really impressed with either PG option last night. I'm afraid Pe's injuries have taken away his effectiveness. He's slow and, as a result, cannot totally beat his man to force defensive shifts & open up passing lanes. Allen was quicker but out of control. I thought Allen got bailed out once or twice trying to dribble between two defenders and having fouls called on MSU. From what I've seen, Faust and Wells give us the best options of dribble penetration in the half court set.
Faust's line last night was kind of surprising. At the end of the game, I wouldn't have guessed he led us in scoring. His 3-pointer was right on target.
Is it just me or do Maryland teams blow more dunks & layups than other high level D1 teams you watch? Last night we had two missed dunks and a missed layup. Also, a lot of turnovers were caused by us trying to play flashy rather than make the simple play. At times, it appears this team wants to run before they can walk - but this in nothing new.
Thought I did. Must have missed it.
Too much chipotle and DP Dough, not enough Boston Market?
Dez Well's dunk was nice, but Sean Woods was the highlight of last night's game.
Come on out and get your whoopin!
allen was slow on defense as well
im sorry i was confusing...your "Superbowl" was the Redskins losing since you know that the Ravens cant win it all.
he was last night, but quicker in the kentucky and IUP game.
Honestly, do you think he came over here because he wants to help Maryland basketball achieve its full potential or to fully experience the american college lifestyle? I hope your optimism is right, but I'm afraid I can't share it.
I feel like this team is actually reflecting Turgeon's coaching style and personality more than last year's. Maybe that's a reflection of more personnel turnover, or maybe I'm just wrong. Or maybe it's too early to tell.
Need to work on end of half/ end of game scenarios
This is not directed to you in general but, sparse crowd for the Home Opener with NCAA ambitions is embarrasing. The last time they sniffed the NCAA's is 09'-10' season. I would have expected more fan support from a big time public institution. This is George Mason territory. My 2 pennies.

If he plays like he has for the rest of the season, he'll almost surely be projected as a lottery pick in the 2013 draft, maybe even a high lottery pick. He's at #5 right now on Chad Ford's list of draft prospects, but we'll see what happens.
It's one thing to question a guy like Jordan Williams for jumping early. His draft position might have benefitted from another year in college. And he wasn't even a lock for the first round and a guaranteed contract, let alone the lottery. But you really can't blame a guy for jumping early if he knows he's going in the lottery. Just way too much money to turn down. Not to mention the fulfillment of a lifelong dream and years of hard work. Plus there are plenty of cautionary tales of guys who probably should've jumped and hurt their draft status in their next college season, either through injury, poor play, or a stronger draft class.
Alex Len is going to look nice in a Wizard's jersey this time next year.
theres a person on this forum names ZackGreinkeTerp? thats fucking awesome
No doubt about it, but still for it to be the home opener for a MD team that is supposed to be pretty good ... I was a bit surprised at the low turnout. But you're right these types of games haven't drawn in a while.
