Leach has a real freakin track record. Edsall has proven to be a phony and his record uncovered. That is the answer as to why you still think leach is a better. We are where we are, no one can argue otherwise, and again I'll give edsall a pass for this year, but let's not create new standards for him where it's not reasonable to be critical of his results. He's sucked so far and is showing he's at best mediocre and at worst a nightmare, so far.
No I said that Edsall was supposed to take it from being good under RF to great under KA/RE. Ralph made us relevant again. He made us want to show up 50,000+
Either way, look I get your point and I respect your patience. I just think that MD deserves better than what we got. The standards are way lower than they were in Jan '11 when this clown was hired. Edsall is mediocre. At best he is a 7-8 win coach. He has gotten by beating the Buffalo's of the world, getting fat off 1-AA cupcakes with the bottom feeders of the Big East and ACC each year.
The good thing about sports is that they keep stats AND wins and losses and over a period of time that tells us all we need to know....Edsall is average at best as a head coach.
I get where you're coming from. But, my point is, for most of his tenure, Ralph was also a 7-8 win coach. If we fired Edsall tomorrow, I wouldn't lose one bit of sleep. I guess I just don't think we're ever going to be much more than a 7-8 win program on a consistent basis. 7-8 wins, consistent bowls, an occasional 9-10 win season. Granted, I'm a much bigger basketball guy so I can live with that. This year he gets a pass. Next year there will be no excuses for Edsall. If the defense is bad, that's on him because these will be his guys now.
This is the truth.
BTW, the disaster that has become our football program is still no excuse for the student section to bail like they did yesterday. Actually, bailing is the wrong word because in order to bail from a game you actually have to show up in the first place.
Fletch, I totally agree about the student section, just abysmal! Are the tickets still not free? No excuse to not show up and at least give it to half time. We must have about 300 hard core student fans and that is it! That don't deserve a winner.
Now, I agree about the atmosphere but let's be real, with a 5th string QB it was to be expected. This team deserves better for sure and the next 3 games are gonna be ugly!
