Unlikely to happen, I know, but I'd love to see a back-biting, sulking-for-lack-of-playing-time, bitch-fest implosion next year.
Yeah, they shouldn't and this UK team would beat Robert Morris 10 times out of 10 if they played during the regular season, but not in the NIT where there isn't a lot of incentive for the high-major team to play hard. Also, a lot of people are forgetting that NIT teams like Robert Morris, Norfolk State and Stony Brook have a 2 or 3-year run of dominating their conference. People see the name of the school and assume they are a bunch of scrubs!!
Yeah, but this UK team should have some incentive to play in the NIT, it's not like the majority of them had anything to do with the UK team that won the national championship last year. I guess all of their freshmen just thought they'd go to Kentucky and just magically win the NCAAT again?
You would think "avoiding embarrassment/ridicule" would be incentive enough.
In my opinion, Kentucky getting blown out by a below average Vanderbilt team in the SEC tourney, a game in which they had to win to get in the NCAA tourney, was just as bad as the loss to Robert Morris. Kentucky's season was on the line against a bad team and they proceeded to get blown out!! It was obvious that Kentucky "checked out" after that Vandy loss.
My point is, you can't be surprised when a high-major team that had NCAA tourney hopes gives a poor effort in the NIT. Virginia looked like they didn't want to play against Norfolk State too, but they were able to give a minimal effort and hold off Norfolk State.
If some of these kids are forced to come back for a second year, they might actually have to start going to class. They never signed up for that nonsense.
I wasn't. Was referring to the guy who said Cal can't coach.
It is in my life.
they may demand salary increases if they have to go to class!
