That's safe to say
I'll take his athleticism over Cleare, Wells, Smotcyz, anyone
So Turge is a worse recruiter than Gary. We're fucked.
this made me laugh. . .upvoted
JA being good, and a young team majorly underachieving this year doesn't mean Turgeon hasn't brought in excellent talent. This season was garbage but yall are a bunch of babies, seriously
Fact- Justin Anderson's dad is the one who said no to Md. He didn't want anything to do with Dalonte Hill and the AAU scene,
So we picked AAU over Justin Anderson. He's a good player but I would much rather have the AAU players that are going to start coming to Md. starting with Peters and Trimble.
I thought JL was better today but the foul trouble (a screw job IMHO) kept him out much of the second half.
Jake Layman is a talented player to be sure but too much was asked of him for a freshman. That kind of pressure can be very counterproductive in the long run.
Jake Layman is the only fucking player on this entire fucking team that doesn't play with his head up his ass. He's literally the only smart player we fucking have on offense. And you think we're putting too much pressure on him? To do fucking what exactly? Jesus.
Layman pretty much fouls every time after he turns it over or takes a crappy shot. It's like he is instinctively trying to make up for the TO. He needs to shake that.
Not sure "majorly" is the right word at all. Even with Dez Wells, after we lost Stoglin last year coming into this season we all knew that our success was going to hinge on the development of Alex Len and Nick Faust. All of us.
We pretty much assumed that because they were freshmen last year they would automatically be better this year. That they haven't progressed is like 95% of the reason we "underacheived" this year. As a fan base we ignored what our eye balls told us last year in place of blind hope.
Cue 02terp type idiots saying "BUT ISN'T IT ON TURGEON TO DEVELOP PLAYERS!!!!"
This is a valid complaint. He got hosed a few times yesterday, though.
I'm biased bc he is by far my favorite player on this team. He's a match up nightmare on both sides of the court and is our most flexible player. He's going to be an absolute stud. And best of all, like I said, he pretty much never does anything stupid on offense. Which is a luxury for a team like ours where EVERY FUCKING PLAYER is retarded on offense, especially our 2 best ones (Len and Wells).
Its really hard to tell who has improved or not because watching our offense is like watching a circus act.
Settle down. I'm simply saying that in our desperate quest to find a go-to guy we depended too much on Layman. He couldn't do it. He went into a major shooting slump in the second half of the season and tried to compensate for it by driving to the basket and taking ill-advised shots. The guys is talented, I said, but not enough become the go-to guy in his freshman year.

He's attempted >10 FG TWICE all season. No one has ever tried to turn him into a go to guy.
As long as you have eyes, it's not remotely hard at all to tell that Layman has improved dramatically from earlier this year.
Gawd you are obviously in love with Layman. I agree he has pretty hair but you are going overboard dude.
How am I going overboard? You said that you think the team has put too much pressure on him to be "the guy" which is fucking absurd considering he has had double digit FG attempts twice all year.
It's just absurd that anyone watching this team could possibly say of all the problems, us trying to force Jake Layman into a starring role has set us back. It's ludicrous. It's not only untrue, but as I said, he's the only one who looks like he has a brain most of the time.
Layman had a very good first half yesterday. He did a lot of very good things off the ball that didn't show up in the stat sheet. The officiating was beyond ridiculous but this is the ACC so that is a Fing given.
I think Layman has potential but in reality, he hasn't had that great a year. Its hard to have a lovefest for a guy who averages 5 points a game and is a horible three point shooter. I think he'll be a lot better next year though.
I would go easy on that claim. I like him - he usually plays within the offense without forcing and makes nice entry passes. He also moves well off the ball moving around screens. If he can improve his shooting consistency, having a 6'9" shooter is certainly a valuable piece to a team. However, right now he's a one-dimensional player offensively in that about 70% of his attempts are from 3.
If he's ever going to expand his game to the next level he needs to improve his handle and ability to attack the basket. He's shown at some points that he can get defenders to bite on his pump fake and get into the lane since his release is really quick. I'd like to see more of that. Until he starts showing more of a handle and a midrange game, he has a ceiling. I hope this is what Layman works on in the offseason.
I honestly have no idea if this is referring to Anderson or Layman.
I thought Layman played fine until overtime. He looked terrified when he had to take that 1 and 1 and it was no surprise that he didn't make it. It's kind of late in the season for that, even for a freshman.

Anderson is good and the reason he did not come here is posted.I have no problem with him leaving us.
I like the following players as much as Anderson or more right now:
1. Dez Wells who has played out of position all year and sacraficed his all for us. He is by far our best player..
2. Layman, he has potential to be very good, but Turgeon should just start him all next year and stop this musical chairs crap, Layman is the perfect 3.
3. Mitchell , must play out, he could become very good.
4. Len, is he a Turgeon recruit officially? He has no pg or leadership to help him. No way if I was strarting a team, take Anderson over Len
I heard somewhere he has a pinko commie name.
Dez Wells agrees!
