I say no more weak-minded Gary's turd recruits in crunch time. No Faust, Padge or Howard. Lets roll with Allen, Wells, Layman, Mitchell, Len.
This season is shaping up for a repeat of '96-97. Start off 17-2, limp into the NCAA, lose to CoC.
Did you watch the game last night? Seth Allen was right where he needs to be. No Faust, then who runs the offense? And Len was a non-factor

limp into ncaa? there not even on pace to limp into NIT. in order to make tourney this team has to finish 9-1/8-2. they would be on fire heading to ncaa's.
Put the ball in Wells's hands and let him create. Obviously this is not a long term solution. Faust needs to be out on the floor a majority of the time. It's just that when the pressure goes up, he completely crumbles. The other guys may be a non-factor but Faust is a negative-factor in crunch time. He made 3 absolutely fatal mistakes last night (4 if you included his pathetic defense in FSU's last possession). Without any of those, we would have won the game.
He played that much because Len and Mitchell could not stop committing stupid fouls. Padge's minutes going into this game were: Duke- 6 minutes, BC- 9 minutes, UNC- 6 minutes. He clearly isn't Turgeon's choice but when one starter is stuck on the bench with foul trouble and the other (Shaq) doesn't have the conditioning to play 30 minutes what else could he do? Mitchell may be fun to watch on offense but his defense is almost Seth Allen bad. In the first FSU game Okaro White burned him repeatedly. He picked up his 2nd foul with 12 minutes to go in the 1st half. That put him right on the bench. Three fouls in only 14 minutes of play. Maybe some of us would love him to just be running up and down the floor getting baskets and then giving them back on the other end but Turgeon isn't going to so that. I think he will be a good PF in the years to come but right now he is a liability on the defensive end.
I agree 100% , but I think we played ok, there were some good signs.
Layman and Mitchell will be very good, Shaq could be, not sure.
Seth Allen has skills but no bsketball iq or intensity. He seems to be sulking and his mind drifts.
I still say we need Howard, 15 to 20 mpg and hopefully continue his knee recovery.
In retrospect, the play in the final minute coming out of the time out--the alley oop to Len--was drawn up to perfection and executed reasonably well. The pass was a little high and Len missed the dunk. That would have probably been the game. I don't think Turge got outcoached necessarily. We just crumble in crunch time. And the truth about is Padge couldn't be simpler--the guy cannot jump and therefore gives up offensive rebounds over and over again.
It was a solid play and I had no problem with it. Logan and Len on the same side caused the D to overextend to prevent an open look from Logan so Len could roll to the basket and get open for the oop. He was open, the pass was a little off, it still should have been caught and finished, and it's a play that we should be able to make a high percentage of the time. Pretty dumb to put that on Turgeon IMO and I've seen a lot of that from people.
Haven't been on here since the FSU game. Stayed away yesterday...
I also didn't have any problem with our last offensive play. Thought it was good, and AL needs to finish that.
My issue was on the last D play - in the huddle the clear instruction should have been "whoever is guarding Snaer DO NOT LEAVE HIM!!!"...to help on D, no matter what else is going on...you have to make sure it's someone else taking the shot.
I haven't followed any post-game stuff. Not sure if it was addressed to MT? - so was it a coaching issue or a player issue...probably no one knows
anyway...tough lost...typical Terps...ugh. Still hoping we get to 11-7
it was jsut a tough loss, I think we are showing signs, in regard to last alley oop to Len, I thought it was a tough catch for Len, so I do not blame him at all.
If Nick hits those 2 foul shots and front end of 1 and 1 it would haveben huge
However, I think like many, a game should not come down to one or 2 plays.
I still think 10-8 is possible, but the FSU loss was major, we should be 4-4 and not 3-5.
Lets say Len makes dunk, everbody would say how great Turgeon is, we are going to NCCA, etc. One or 2 plays and we win.
I saw many positive signs against FSU, and one was intensity.

7-3 for the back part of the schedule? Maybe 6 - 4 with UNC being a loss? Not tournament worthy unfortunately. I don't know. Maybe they wake up and win the rest... Who knows.
If we go 7-3, then its going to come down to the ACCT, probably win 2 and we're in.
10-8, even without a Duke win, is a LOT closer to getting in than you people think.
All of those road games are very winnable. Unfortunately, the opposite is true as well. Let's hope we've turned a corner offensively. Thursday night is very big for this team's confidence. VT will not be an easy game by any means.
Fuck off RDurr. Like a different team. You won't be missed.
