Former classmate who is having some serious health issues now used to go out of his way whenever he had a test in order to rub Testudo's nose for luck. So I thought it would be nice gift for him as he faces a very real challenge now to be able to rub Testudo's nose again. But, I have searched and searched and cannot find a scaled down Testudo anywhere.
Does anyone have any suggestions where I might look?
My heartfelt thanks for all the good wishes and suggestions. With this many good vibes going out, I know he will make a speedy recovery.

If you go onto Ebay and search for "turtle paperweight" you will see some that look similar to Testudo. I didn't see any "official" Testudo replicas however. My best to your friend...
Thank you. Totally forgot about eBay.
Props to you-very generous.
Sorry, wish your friend the best of health but I had to laugh. That nose has probably spread so much disease...
Bill, I already knew what kind of person you are, but God Bless, man...
Yeah, definitely search Ebay for Testudo paperweights. I'll bet they sell them in the University Book Center in Stamp (but not online). I have a prized one that my parents got me for graduation that has a "Class of 2002" plaque on the back. I'd bet they sell them in the gift section of UBC -- give them a buzz. I'm sure you can also get it without the plaque.
NOW THAT'S A PERSON WHO KNOWS WHAT THE CHRISTMAS SEASON IS ALL ABOUT! GOD BLESS YOU!
If your Jewish, substitute Hanukah for Christmas and Happy Holidays!
Well, there is magic in Testudo's shiny nose. It is highly transferable over great distances, too.
So, this being finals week on our campus, I always have my students rub his nose before taking their exams. I will now ask them to rub his nose for your friend as well. So, count on 25 nose rubs plus me, plus my TA, that's 27 nose rubs for your buddy. Go Terps!
BTW: did you know that now we have over 300,000 alumni?

Bill, your generosity is unbelievable. But, for a very good reason, you will not need to part with your Testudo paperweight. I was talking to the wife of my friend today and it seems that one of other buddies from school sent him a Testudo pendant on a chain that he can wear around his neck. I don't know if they still do it or not, but back in the early 70's, when you won an intramural sport, you got a small Testudo that could be put on a bracelet or a necklace. So my other college buddy sent him the one he had been saving.
Again Bill, thank you very much for your offer and I will be sure to tell my friend that he is in the thoughts and prayers of many of you out there in Terp Nation.
Thank you 1967Terp. I will relay your best wishes to my friend.
And to your BTW, I did not know there were that many of us.
I will pass along your best wishes. Thank you.
To all those that extended their best wishes and especially to billdc, I wanted to thank you again and give you an update on a fellow Terp. My college buddy made it through his surgery and while the recovery will take time, the prognosis is good and he will be back "busting my balls" again for many years to come.
Now THAT'S what I call a Christmas present!
You seem like a real good dude.
thatas great to hear! hopefully the Terps will make a nice run in March that your buddy can now enjoy.
