I didn't even know we were in on him. Now we're "top 6" to get him. That would be a huge get if he was granted immediate eligibility. Kid can flat out score.
Doubt that is going to happen.
I don't see how that's what we need at the moment. Though apparently Turge feels at least that it's worth exploring.
Yes, let's have another guard who shoots terrible percentages and turns the ball over a lot.
Uh..He would easily be the second best scorer on the team not far behind Dez
Hope he comes here
Why would we not need someone who scored 15 ppg as a sophomore in the Big East?

Rutgers transfer Eli Carter will visit Maryland and Florida this week, per a source......

"I like fixing broken things" - Kevin Plank
He's a high-volume, low-percentage shooter who plays 2G and apparently turns the ball over a fair amount. I understand we struggled to score a lot last year, but I tend to think some of that is a result of our not having a decent distributor. And of all the areas of need, 2/3 isn't the highest, though certainly it's not an either/or proposition.
Looks like a high volume, low percentage shooter who does nothing else.
Fire the Turd!!!
The article I saw said he averaged 39%, but also that ''he gets to rim and finishes whenever he wants.'' They never publish stats on what percentage of real shots a guy makes. In other words, what % of his jumpers does he make? If he gets a lot of layups (higher %) and shoots 39% overall, then I agree with the above posters who call him ''high volume, low percentage."
But, if Turge wants and can get him, he knows better than most of us!
He played on a shit team in a terrible program where he was basically asked to chuck up shots if they had any prayer of winning. Guys who averaged 15 as sophomores in the Big East aren't just chuckers, he has to have some sort of ability. Not to mention that free throw % is always welcome. Our guards for next season are Roddy Peters, Seth Allen and Nick Faust, there is no reason to just leave another ship open if someone as good as Carter wants to come. If he isn't good enough he won't play...
Don't he have to sit out next season?
Seems to be the general consensus that anyone looking to leave the Mike Rice fiasco at Rutgers behind will be able to play right away.
Will lightning strike twice for Maryland?
This would be a very big get if he can play right away.
A guy that scored 15 ppg in the Big East. How the hell are some of you saying we don't him? Did you see us play offense last year?

comparing to dez, who is better? and would they play at same time?
Is dez leaving?
Main priority should be a true point. Maybe peters has morphed into one but last I saw, he was a combo. As of now we have no point guard. Until we get one, we are going to be very frustrated with how the team runs offense.
Dez is taller, more athletic, shoots a much higher percentage, has a much better assist to turnover ratio, rebounds almost twice as much with the same minutes.
Other than that, I guess they are pretty even.
I'm thinking the offense will look a lot better (even without a "true point") if we have multiple guys who can shoot and score. There are lots of successful teams that don't have "true" PGs.
i have a feeling the terps will get antonio barton. not this carter guy. better fit, plus only takes up a schollie for one year. look at big picture folks.
I agree - however, I think this team could use another scorer with Len leaving.
Not sure how a one-year guy like Antonio Barton helps with the "big picture." Give me a guy who is a proven scorer 10 times out of 10.
we arent getting him

That's fine. Now we move on to Barton.
we don't want him
