Has he lived up to everyone's expectations this far this early season? I think he is fitting in but will become that guy they lean on for needed buckets.
As an aside, doesn't he seem like a bigger, more athletic Sean Mosley? Heis everything I hoped Sean would be when Sean first came into the program.
yeah, he obviously has skills that he hasn't really shown yet. Still finding his place on the team. Expect bigger contributions come Jan-->Mar.
I get the sense that he has such high expectations that he overplays a bit from time to time. I've not been overly impressed but maybe I don't NEED to be yet with the depth we had. Give him time to figure out his place
We're putting together a team with a lot of new parts.
Rotations and roles will come more definitively with time. I like that Turge is using this period to figure things out. Dez has NCAAT experience. That will make a difference.
No he hasn't lived up to my expectations as of yet. Think he will though. Certainly has talent.
It's a smidgen troubling that someone who isn't special against the pre-season creampuff run (ex, KY), will get much better against the better competition of the ACC. But it could and hopefully will happen; the talent is there.
dez is extremely talented. he'll get going even more so than he already has.
im sorry i was confusing...your "Superbowl" was the Redskins losing since you know that the Ravens cant win it all.
I think his talent may be more evident when we play the tougher teams because the D will be tougher and we will need guys who can get space, separation on their own which Dez can do. He's very good at getting his shot off around the basket against bigs. And he can pull up off the dribble and get his mid-range shot off on his own which he will need to do against the better teams.
And against teams like NW tonight who run a slower-paced offense and a tight defense that packs it in and may result in us needing someone who can do something on his own as the shot clock runs down.
The most underrated part of Dez's game is his passing. He has already made a few amazing passes. I think he is trying too hard to make a statement as evidenced by his thunderous missed dunks. By tourney time, Wells will be a nightmare to contain.
Always thought people had too high expectations. He has played about as well as I expected.
Agreed. He's a sophomore, and it's not like he was even all-conference in the A10 last season. I'm actually more optimistic because his skills (not just dunking) are really, really good.
Yeah I agree with this. He averaged 9 points last year as a freshman. I expect a solid jump as a sophmore to like 12-13 points a game with some huge games in there throughout.
Byron Mouton Jr.
He just hasn't looked or played like he knew what was expected of him. I especially think he a Faust on the floor together totally confuse the both of them.
9/21/2010...RIP Old IMS.
From the youtube highlight reel I watched I was expecting more. That said, he's a good fit, brings some toughness on D, and I also think it's a mistake to have him and Faust on the floor at the same time especially if Howard is running the point.
He'll be a solid starter. No less than #2 or 3 option throughout his career here. Nothing to sneeze about but, I don't know what the incoming fuss was about. NBA talk? He was the third option at best for Xavier behind Lyons, Holloway & Frese (sp)
Xavier is only an A-10 school, step below in competition

3rd option on an upper tier A-10 team
Good players play better against better competition. Wells is a good player

this was a timely thread.
I thought he would be more of a off the dribble scorer, but he is very smooth, crafty and has great feel for passing and setting up his teammates. Makes it look very easy. Love what I see and he will become more of a force once ACC season rolls around. Now if we can just convert more of those alley oops...
Much more athletic than Mouton.
He made 3 or 4 buckets vs NW that were just sick, NBA level badazz. That was the first time that I got a glimpse of what all the hype was about. More, please.
